Watching the VOD for the latest episode of MATI, and when Kali Yuga accidentally started playing near the beginning it reminded me that I actually don't own any of Anthrazit's albums. I took a look around to see if I could purchase a copy of their [R]evolution album when I noticed something strange:
[R]evolution has 11 songs on the tracklist, but Amazon only lists 9 songs on their digital store front. It's missing both "Des Teufels rotes Wappen" and "Gender Mich nicht voll", the former being my favorite Anthrazit song. I thought to myself "huh, that's strange, I wonder why", so I looked at a translation of the lyrics for the latter (I know what "Des Teufels" is about). Des Teufels rotes Wappen is about the sins of usury and how banks are fucking evil, and Gender Mich nicht voll is about how the lgbtq+ are a bunch of asshole losers forcing their ideology on people. It's almost unbelievable to me that a storefront would remove two songs from an album rather than just delisting it from the storefront entirely, and I wanted to confirm that before I made the claim, but Anthrazit isn't really well known on English google and I don't care enough about it to do THAT deep of a dive. However, "Des Teufels rotes Wappen" is a song that is performed by another group, Überzeugungstäter. I think it's the same song, just (in my opinion) performed much worse, and their album with the song still has it listed on Amazon. Maybe Anthrazit or their record company have decided to remove those two songs off of future releases of [R]evolution, maybe Amazon said they would need to be removed in order to be listed on their storefront.
Either way, thanks, Josh, for unintentionally sending me on a fruitless search to figure out why I can't purchase my favorite Anthrazit song.
