I'm of the opinion that all these fucking post-modern artists lack the basic ability to create anything. This leaves them bitter and they make it their sole purpose is to destroy everything that came before them with a crude mockery of what once was. Subverting expectations, modernization, reimagining, it's all the same worthless fucking excuse that lets them pervert and twist the giants they stand upon. It'd be one thing if they were saying something but they're not. They're not saying anything other than "Fuck you. You cannot enjoy what you once did because it no longer exists anymore. Worship me and my creation now."
I've unfortunately had to see clips of Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed back to back. Before then I thought they were the same person as well. 2 loud niggers who only yell at the camera, got rich and famous doing it, and both got famous around the same time. It's why people get the Paul brothers mixed up too.
Imagine for a moment being the modern artist. You look on the works of others, who are your better and are dead. You try something primitive, more abstract. Then cave paintings are found and you realize you cannot invent anything. It's all been done. Your life, time, and profession are useless. Landscapes have already been done. Portraits even more so. The natural world and people, including their stories have all been done. You could try new myths, new stories- but writers are in the same spot. They can't think of anything. So you fester and grow resentment at the people who don't know art like you do, who don't know what it's like to look into an empty well from which you can draw nothing to make yourself stand out and last forever. At that point burning everything down or giving up and doing furry porn for money are the only options left. And truth be told, I'd probably want to burn shit down too if I were in that state
I think like that about all kinds of entertainment. There's no new ideas because it's simply not possible. I'm currently watching a show that's somewhat enjoyable, but I can name two clear inspirations the makers had off the top of my head.
