Whereas the one where the lesbians join in digital purgatory is presented as a happy ending but is a sort of cosmic tragedy representing a betrayal of the most sacred bond for something which is profoundly artificial.
This is the one I thought was the worst. For a series about the pitfalls of technology and its abuses and dehumanizing effects and the downsides of technocracy, making uploading your soul to the amazon prime server the good ending is genuinely fucking absurd. For literally the first and only time in the entire franchise, the faceless megacorporation that takes ownership of fucking human souls in its server farm is somehow the good guy because lesbians.

The episode genuinely plays like in universe propaganda by amazon prime trying to sell subscriptions to SoulSave+.

The fact that the episode is so highly rated is proof that people who watch the show are genuinely retarded. They basically sat through an hour of pro-corporate technocrat propaganda in a show that advertises itself as a cautionary tale against technocracy and somehow applauded it and thought it was great.

I've always took it as a sort of case where everything is presented as positive and normal, but the horror is the viewer's interpretation.

It was possibly not the intention, but it is shockingly positive for what it is, especially compared to previous works. I can't help but feel that it is supposed to be disturbingly happy.
Though any time I've watched these my bar starts at rock bottom.
***I also very often derive my own convoluted entertainment or meaning from otherwise bad and shallow works.

I'm not saying it's better than Black Mirror
Black mirror is literally based on the Twilight zone isn't it?

Nah that kind of thing would be shit like the one twilight zone episode where the depressed kid who's dad killed himself over the government robbing people of their individual appearances goes through the mind-rape machine at the end and comes out being all happy and shit.

Twilight zone is better anyways, Black Mirror leans far too much on technology themes and completely forgets about the actual horror sometimes.
Besides, the narrator is not a diversity pick and the stories make sense. Also there is not homosexual sex every other episode.

The thought of living forever genuinely horrifies and terrifies me.
The older I get the happier I am that I'm going to die one day.
Anyway, just stopped by to saying I'm loving the Netflix remake of "A Clockwork Orange" that's the video of the now, under the EBT timer on the front page. Loads of the old ultraviolence.

Im not entirely unconvinced of quantum immortality.

The 1995 reboot of The Outer Limits is also a good spooky/unsettling series.

If you want an introduction to it, I recommend watching "Quality of Mercy" (Season 1, episode 13) followed immediately by "The Light Brigade" (Season 2, episode 18 ). Those two episodes are spooky space stuff, but not all of The Outer Limits is space stuff. Don't read a synopsis beforehand.

Well, Black Mirror was never about horror in it's purest form, it was always about the insidious, symbiotic nature of humanities relation to technology, like, what do you think the Black Mirror is, and reflects?
It's why there was that weird episode in series 6, I think, set in the 70's, with the demon, it was supposed to be a back door pilot for Red Mirror, which was going to be pure horror, rather than the more dystopian, sci-fi adjacent Black Mirror.

I was listening to some episodes from 2020 and man, what a shit show 2020 was. After hearing about yaniv, the servers being unplugged from the datacenter, covid starting, and hearing how the guy in serbia hooked you up with the room is vastly different than "2025 im back in america and everything fucking sucks. Why shit expensive. Why ADS. Why indians!!!"

Although, i kind of do want to see black people chumping out because they dont get dem gubamen bucks.

I've never watched Black Mirror, but I know that OG Twilight Zone is better than it because OG Twilight Zone is one of the greatest television shows ever.

I do like 90s Outer Limits. There's a lot of good episodes, but the one that unsettles me the most is the one where a space astronaut guy is going through deep hallucinations from space spider bites that make him think he was rescued and is back home with his family, but in reality, he's still in space being eaten by the space spiders.

That was season 3, episode 9, "Tempests".

The one that made the most lasting impression on teenage me was "Think Like a Dinosaur", season 7, episode 8, in which aliens lend humans teleportation technology, and functionally it just creates an exact duplicate of you somewhere else in the universe, while the original you is instantly and painlessly obliterated. Because of technical difficulties, someone's "original" doesn't get automatically obliterated, and the crew of the ship, in the interest of continuing good relations with the aliens, has to wrestle them into an airlock and blast them screaming out into the void.

Black Mirror is a common tale to what happens when good shit gets bought by soulless merilards, it's very.. Black Mirrorish :smug:
The only brit show neetflix didn't ruin was Last Kingdom, and that's only because they couldn't pozz it because it was filmed on location in heckin chudtastic Hungary.

This is a horrifying news story for the Jeet Hate Segment™:

I first heard about it here on the truckers subreddit. A 21 year old Jeet trucker, Jashanpree Singh, was arrested on scene for this DUI accident in which he plows into multiple stopped vehicles on westbound I-10 freeway in Ontario, California. 3 people are confirmed dead so far due to this jeet.
Edit: Here (A) is a link to a ABC 7's news article on it.

Also, here is the booking information on his arrest (you can lookup his case here - booking number: 2510341824); please do note he is somehow able to be bailed out:

I'm so sorry everyone. I used the "My Apology, sort by new" method earlier and hit the jackpot; it was a black guy crying for 10 minutes to some woman he had kids with and they had some good times together and they don't need to be together but no other woman can give him what she can and maybe she'll watch this video some day and say oh hey and I didn't archive it instantly and now it's been fucking deleted.
