The only thing keeping these big publishing companies alive is brand recognition.
I always felt like the comic stuff in the US has been long dead, and only kept alive by the most hardcore fans. There's not much interest in comics, and maybe I'm way too young to remember, I even remember not many kids my age being interested in comics either.

this is genuinely informative and i think this system is probably better than the way that it works in the US. DC would probably make more money if they sold monthly catalogs with different episodes instead of what I got in the mail.

i like my cheese subscription a lot and towards the end of the month I get excited for my new cheese. Every month would get the nerds excited for new capeshit.
I don't think it would work because capeshit is so formulaic that no one cares. Plus, i think the hardcore fans will subscribe to comic book subscription services like DC Universe Unlimited and stuff like that, so even if it's just 10 pages they know they will get 10 more pages next month. It's sad, but physical media enjoyers (like myself) are going extinct.

The caveat to the manga system is that the authors generally have to consistently produce new chapters every 1-2 weeks. Giving retarded capeshit authors/artists hard deadlines to meet would probably be met with serious soy rage that they actually have to produce a product on someone else’s schedule… just look at pedo Vito and EVS as good examples of that :story:
There's also the fact that Jump produces their work on recycled toilet paper so printing expenses are cheap as fuck hence why manga sales are so high since they're resold to you in better quality and no errors. Burger comics are way too overproduced because everything has to be in high quality coloring and paper as well as having several special edition covers for the collector market when the resale value is worthless since they print far too much at a time.

The only comic that genuinely interested me were the Garth Ennis runs on the Punisher, I've tried getting into other stuff and remember that Redditors are the ones writing this tripe.

Good news is that it's easier than ever to pirate comics, small time artists who like their fans will go out of their way to share physical copies like Sven Stoffels Butch Killigan.

Disney and WB only keeps their comic divisions alive to farm out movie ideas and because letting go of them wouldn't offset expenses even when the only thing that sells are Spidercuck and Batwank.

Listening to the story of Josh getting silver scammed I thought it was going to be the story of one of our fine British Paki lads 👨🏿 scamming him, but it was a different one.

How is the second hand market for stuff like that produced in small quantities? For video games it's usually crazy expensive (e.g: price of Sega Saturn games), but i don't know about comic books.

What is in the water of Atlanta @Null ?

They used to produce plenty of stuff like this in the West. You just file buffer stories in case there's a problem and tell authors to buck up.beause pleanty of people want a shot.

The western equivalent of how manga is sold in the US are generally called "trade paperbacks" and are a much better value proposition.

What the fuck are you saying jomsh 'son of a bitch' is 'absolutely meaningless' in English? It is just incredibly obviously calling someone's mother a dog? How is that nothing? How is it not a direct insult against someone's mother in English? That is all it is? I DOWNVOTE you one downdoot on your profile good sir for you have committed a cringe.

If it's like Undertale I can't. I couldn't beat the bullshit where you have to dodge stuff perfectly for 5 minutes at a time.

FUCK I forgot to ask my anime question

okay that comic book Red Hood is like 10 pages long and the rest of it is just fucking ads (spoiler for my review)

is this normal for anime books? are anime books also all ads for yuri lesbian slop?
Most anime books are published independently by "scanlation" groups with ads built into the website. Oh, you meant official publishing. As has already been said, in Japan manga is published weekly or monthly in a magazine subscription. In the west, there is probably a similar arrangement, but I cannot honestly tell you that any western anime fan has ever purchased a magazine subscription to read manga, and even reading it from an official website is rare, and basically unheard of from the actual anime fanatics. On the websites, ads are packaged in the way you would expect, but I don't think the ads intrude into the actual comic pages in print, although I have no evidence for this except hearing that there is apparently an "art of the page turn" in manga.

Anime has a similar system where weeaboos will track the seasonal anime every season hoping for a new good anime (none has ever come), but it's third party tracking on various websites.

Kids these days are into webcomics anyways, some are hidden gems some are absolute shit but is surprising how "alive" the comic sphere is, i thought the art was dead until my niece showed me some that she liked, if there is to have a renaissance in western (or more specifically american) storytelling, they gotta capitalize on this, as much as i like Batman and superman and shit i think is time to put them to rest and get new shit going and show that we are better than the gook crap trannies consume.
