I want to clarify that Doom is a fully 3D game that just took a lot of shortcuts to run fast on contemporary PCs, what you referred to as bugged 3D mechanics was just the objectively terrible auto-aim of Doom.

We don't see that enough in games. I'm playing Barony (roguelike RPG dungeon crawler with Minecraft style graphics) at the moment and there's an extremely useful item in it called Ring Of Conflict. It turns all enemies on one another when worn. It works in a wide radius and through walls. You can even turn one of the bosses' summoned adds against him.

Dunno why we need someone to prove or debubk something that is painfully obvious. Aside from seeing enemies behind objects that are not viewable to anyone with snap reactions to it, we also see his reticle have an error margin of like 5 pixels. It's beyond human limits easily. I mean, olympic level reaction time has nothing on him. Compare the trannies time to an F1 racer and the trannies is still faster.
Watching the doom streams makes me want to see a My House.wad playthrough. Custom doom levels with some cool fuckery. Like levels being above eachothers which was technically impossible originally as well as some dimensions fuckery. The 2 reasons why are because it is insanely well made, but also the second one which I can't say because it would spoil the surprise. Also if you've heard of the book House of Leaves, it's inspired by that. You would definitely need help from chat though. If memory serves it has some weird puzzles.
