I need to send this somewhere because while I was half alert browsing youtube tonight I got recommended this fucking video and it made me so fucking mad at the Internet but also made me laugh because it's framing an actual stereotype as some kind of warped positive and I think people in here might find it funny.
At first I thought I twas just some goofy ass "subversion" shit where the guys just sad and ronery because anime, but then scrolled down to the description and comments section...
Some guy unironically went "THE GENERIC ANIME MAGICAL TRANSFORMATION IS JUST LIKE ONE OF MY DEVIANTART TF FETISH COMICS!!!"
NOOOOO STALKER CHILD THE REASON YOU ARE MISERABLE IS NOT BECAUSE YOU ARE A SHUT IN IT IS BECAUSE YOU ARE TRANS AND ANIME FROM THE EARLY 2000S HELPED YOU CRACK YOUR EGG SOMETHING SOMETHING BUT ALSO ANIME BAD TRANS GOOD YOUR CATGIRL ANIME PFP IS JUST AN IDENTITY EXPERIMENT IN DISGUISE" something or other.
EDIT: Checked the comments again and there's actually negative ones on all sides of the aisle, only probably botted positive comments at the top were the ones I noticed at first lmao.
Like I GET people hating anime, I GET being a shut in is "LE BAD" The reason I got mad was neither of those things, it was how this entire thing is just More zoomer/tranny/politics people co-opting of the 2000s Internet culture visuals for depression quest but with trannies tier content. I wish I had any kind of budget or career so I could actually make visually appealing shit that didn't have this constant fucking slathering of sad tranny story shit these people churn out, instead I spend my days wallowing in no budget no energy world where the best I can do is pump out a funny gif every once and a while but that's another story
I also IMMEDIATELY realized it was aping off from some shit I got reminded existed a few years back. it's also clearly aping off another cat person anime thing undertale referenced nearly a decade back but the MUSIC here is blatantly just ripping off this stuff specifically.
By the way this shits like 2000-ish or something, pre youtube shit.
You may or may nor recognize these characters from old imageboard/forum/YTMND/early youtube era memes. That's a big time frame, and I think that says something but I'm not sure what. I still see them sometimes. I not only got reminded of the existence of them and this music a few years back, but I also was reminded or first found out (long distant ass memory) that they were actually mascots for some random fucking company's game store... named GAMERS.
THEY CAME FOR GAMERS. No I'm not gonna do the whole copypasta.
Unrelated to the anime or troonshit Around that specific timeframe that I found out about GAMERS again a few years back, it was due to me looking up used game stores due to prices getting fucky for used games post rona and instead of sane prices I instead found somehow at some point in the USA around the 2000s there were 3 different small gaming store chains named GAMERS, and that japanese one with those mascots was one of them bizarrely. it had like a few stores on the west coast and then shut down due to the recession in 2008 or 2010 from the trivia I remember. No I'm too tired right now to look it up. Just know that the 2000s were somehow a golden age for gaming to the point we had not one, not two, but THREE DIFFERENT GAME STORE CHAINS NAMED GAMERS. Maybe we can have something like that someday again, but it's gonna be a long time if this eternal current year keeps chugging and subverting everything to be about shallow politics or tranny depression.
