when i did my weight loss at 20 if i hit a plateau i would just drop to 600 calories for 2+ days until the plateau broke.

Sounds miserable but I used to just cut food out for an entire day once a week to avoid plateaus. Eating decent at home was always easy but my work breaks were the killers of my diets. Every few hours I'd have the option of walking past rows of cheap candy vending machines while hungry and tired or going outside to sit across the street from a 24/7 Taco Bell and one of those would eventually break me.
