Mind, I don't necessarily endorse all of the speech here. Just because you have the unquestionable right to say something doesn't mean you should. But I was both impressed with and heartened by the nuanced understanding in a number of posts.

Also, for the fellow who called me "Creamy Mario"--when I was a teacher, my students did call me "Mr. Creamy" (as well as C-Dawg, Creamalicious, Ceraminator, etc.). And that comment happily brought me back to that time.

There are a number of other things I wish I could say, but I cannot, as service to my client's interests comes ahead of any personal expressive interests. It is good to know, though, that not everyone has been mislead on the facts or the law.

Also, if you come across an instance of censorial bullying, misusing the DMCA or the like to silence "the little guy," you know where to send the person. Or if a content producer gets free speech law wrong and needs being corrected, please send them my way.

Goodbye Volcano High was announced by Sony of all companies to be a launch title for the PS5. And it was a weird furry dating sim with a guitar hero minigame for some reason. It was being developed by a Communist Canadian game developer (no seriously). People were confused why a game like this was being unveiled by Sony as a launch title for the PS5 and it was contributing to the "PS5 has no games" discourse. Another thing about GVH was it faced constant delays. The game was announced in 2020 and was supposed to come out in 2021. But it didn't actually release until 2023. People were confused why such a shitty game was taking so long to make. The fact it was unveiled and promoted by Sony is the only reason GVH is famous at all. Hundreds of largely identical indie games just like it release every year but GVH was special for that reason.

In the midst of this a guy on 4chan decided to just remake the whole game in an open source dating sim engine called Ren'Py. And it got extremely popular on 4chan. Mainly because he just took the visual designs of the characters and made up new things about them. And in some instances with characters like Fang he kept her transgender but had the player de-transition her in one of the endings. They also made Snoot game in just under a year. It was supposed to release around the same time as GVH but it ended up releasing 2 years before it because of GVH's constant delays.

GVH eventually released and got really positive reviews but nobody actually played it. GVH's developers were extremely pissed about Snoot Game and called it offensive. They banned all discussion about it on their discord. After GVH came out it turned out that the game only existed because they got a government grant from the Canadian government to develop the game. (Which was a very similar situation with Dustborn).

After GVH came out all interest in it from the media vanished mainly because it was a really bad visual novel game with a lame ending. However Snoot game still has enormous cultural osmosis outside of 4chan. And its creator went on to make a pseudo sequel to it called I Wani Hug that Gator! which is also really well liked. The only time GVH is ever brought up nowadays is to reference how much more popular Snoot Game was.

This seems even more insidious than the payment processing.

All they should do is verify the ID is real and maybe match the ID photo to a face. They shouldn't be able to claim 'risk' or 'patriot act'.
