I've used one for years. Your legs do get tired, although standing on an anti-fatigue mat will help a greatly (a basic rubber welcome mat is an OK alternative). The trick is to get a desk that can swap from sit to stand easily, rather than having a fixed standing desk. I don't think I've ever done a straight 8h stretch standing, it varies from 30 minutes to a couple of hours at a time while remaining comfortable. If I have a day where I haven't had any proper exercise I find standing for a bit really helps to ward off that 'locked up' feeling you get where your body's just not circulating everything properly.

Vidya while standing works better than I expected, even for precise mouse stuff e.g. FPS games. You do need to be able to tweak the desk to a precise height to get the feel consistent.

If you can squeeze it in, get a mini-trampoline and bop around on it for a minute or so at the top of the hour. It gives you a break and stimulates healthy lymph drainage. And it's fun. [Also I read some articles on trampoline jogging vs. indoor biking as low-impact cardio and found out the trampoline won out, but I still have both options.]

Where I am from this shit is an epidemic and it's always where the junkies hang out 24/7. My local diner added a bunch more slot machines and now you can't go in there without people nodding off in the corner so I refuse to go. Shady ass drug dealers walking around the parking lot I won't go there for breakfast after church without a gun.

Yes, that's my objection. The kind of Dirt McGirt mother fucker who's gonna put more than $5 in a gas station slot machine is not the kind of dude I really want to be around when I'm trying to do my thing.

Gambling is one of those things that sounds fine on paper but holy shit in reality it's the worst. Scratch-off is bad enough, but slot machines are just dopamine drugs and frankly they should probably be regulated away.

The casinos here send out busses to pick up old people at the old folks home they gamble all day and they drop them off it's really disgusting
I tell people if you're gonna go to a casino only go with friends and only take what you wanna lose im okay with losing 60 dollars if I'm having fun with friends
