Buy an Aeropress. Go to a local coffee store, tell them you'd like a bean that's low acidity and high in flavor, but not bitter. They will likely recommend you a light roast. If in doubt, buy small bags of a few different types and see if there's one you like.
You can get the coffee store to grind them for you: be sure to tell them what brewing method you use (e.g. Aeropress, french press, pour-over, etc.). If you want, you can also just grind them yourself. Freshly ground improves the flavor over pre-ground, but it's not a big deal if you're just starting off and experimenting.
An acquaintance of mine really disliked acidity in his coffee, and I tried his beans (can't remember the name) and the coffee was incredibly smooth, no bitterness, almost floral taste. He brewed it on Aeropress, and I've used that myself since. Protip, use 2 filters, and roughly 1 topped table spoon of grounds per cup of coffee.
