No, there would be too many people that would cross the line, we already have enough of a bad reputation, Josh is trying to start building new bridges so we get a better reputation. Also “reputation destruction company" sounds like lawsuits waiting to happen. The only way I could even see this work is if a few kiwis were selected, they take the P.I. test (to make sure they know the law) and become private investigators. But they couldn't post any info about any cases. Null would have to add something like Lolcow P.I. Llc. With the reputation we have now no one would want to be a client, so not a great idea.

All the suggestions about expanding and growing the site need to keep the hard lessons of Internet Blood Sports, The Sektur, and Nick Rekieta in mind: never become the content yourself. That's the fast path to a downfall and earning your own sub-forum.

Null likely knows this already, but any attempt to formalize and commercialize the organic activity of the forum will 100% backfire. The users won't cooperate, and the ones who'd want to are likely the ones you least want to activate. Making it official also opens up legal liability.

Besides, the second the Farms takes a side other than "point and laugh" in some lolcow happening, it will start catching L's and lose the outside observer role that makes it attractive.

I think a good start to growing would be what others have said: feature the lesser known Off Topic or Autistic Thunderdome threads, either on the front page or in a MATI segment. It shouldn't be Featured Content like the big happenings, just something random like Wiki's Featured Article. Put a link in a small box near the top of the front page every week. If you're feeling spicy don't use the title in the link text, make it a hint like "Featured thread: how the poors eat".

Most importantly, since public KF accounts like Twitter, FB, and Telegram are staying up, Null can announce these completely benign threads to the world and get new users curious about what's going on. Combining visibility to the site users with the external thread feature will make it more likely there's some activity in the thread when the new users come in.

Just going to say that I would love for Null to play/stream Dustborn. His reactions alone would be pure comedy.
 
Looks like the recent activity on Gumroad made someone mad:

It was initially added in 2021 but then repeatedly removed and re-added because of the direct link to the MATI gumroad page. Later it was completely removed because it's original research and then immediately re-added again. It's quite the clusterfuck. They add the section, bitch about the direct link, add the section without the link again, then bitch about it being unsourced, add the link again and rinse and repeat. It's also interesting that at times the article either only mentioned Sam Hyde or mentioned him in addition to Mad at the Internet. For a while there was then no mention of it until "GumroadUseriftruth" comes along on August 27th and adds it back. This user also removed a section listing other non-controversial creators using the platform because it's apparently advertisement. The article also mentioned "Until right now, there is no answer from Gumroad." which makes it pretty clear that the user is personally one of the "many users" sending reports to gumroad and uses Wikipedia for his personal vendetta.

tl;dr Wikipedia is still a steaming pile of garbage. Also I think there was a tool that would rate an article based on edit-wars but I can't find it anymore.

Jason Thor Hall, also known as PirateSoftware; famous for his youtube shorts and twitch streams, is one of the biggest youtubers currently and now has a thread explaining just how much of a nepotistic, egotistical degenerate he is- so much so that he uses an egobot to detect negative comments in his youtube posts to immediately sweep them up. This was quite a good read if you know who this guy is.

  • He is a nepotism baby who has been fired and rehired SIX times at Blizzard due to his daddy being one of the first 10 employees. His coworkers stated that he only does a few hours of work a week while they bust out long hours at the office. Allegedly he no-call-no-showed and simply left his job to join a furry ranch and was instantly rehired afterward.
  • Is extremely lazy
  • Known scriptkiddie and creator of false claims.
  • He has had a massive ego since his teenage years. As a teenager and while he was speculatively underage he created and sold furry art in the game Second Life and hired artists who were paid per sale.
  • He steals content and code from people and uses it to create "indie games", has been working on his Indie game magnum opus for close to a decade. He has recently done 15 minutes of work on it within a 168 hour timeframe quantified by fellow kiwi @Relinquish.
  • He is a shitty programmer and uses extremely long arrays to keep track of pretty much every event in his game. This is quite sad considering he brags constantly about his 1337 programming skills and brings up working at Blizzard every chance he gets. He generally will pull up his code while on stream and simply talk like an IRL stream while it's on screen as opposed to doing any actual programming. His code is worse than the YandereDev code.
  • He uses a voicechanger and won't admit it.
Many people like Thor regardless of his shortcomings. He makes fairly reasonable and enjoyable shorts on youtube. Him becoming a lolcow is simply because he butted heads with one of YouTube's most beloved creators Ross Scott who is the founder of Stop Killing Games.

Two thots on the DSP interview (which was way better and less cringe than I thought it would be on all accounts).

DSP’s detractors are somewhat akin to the pests but perhaps more unhinged and DSP has the beginnings of the right response - ignore. As it is the general opinion of DSP has been somewhat rehabilitated - after all Null could have mentioned that it’s now a board tradition to post the DSP gif whenever any other lolcow explodes or dies or gets arrested for possession of dealer quantities of cocaine. Generally outside of the detractors themselves people have a positive view of him. Deleting the thread would harm that and disperse detractors.

Second, if the DSP board ever WERE to be end of life’d where DSP is dropped into a single thread, perhaps a new board for “Addicts over TCP/IP” or similar; bossmanjack, DSP, anyone addicted to gatcha games or gambling or perhaps even drugs (where the addiction is the main cowfactor). Problem is that most actual addicts burn brightly but too short - DSP and BMJ are bit of exceptions in that they keep on trucking.
