That smut in written form is being sold as "just reading books with some spicy content". That can perfectly reach a 13-14 year old, and unlike with porn, that everyone that isn't mind broken will for the most part think "no, my boy watching porn at 13 is not a good thing", nobody bats an eye because it's just a book, and it's good to read. That is where the "insidious" part comes in. Because this is a way that makes people coom brained that is a lot more subtle and can affect normal people and suddenly a girl that has not had anything weird happen to her, suddenly is into rape fantasies. And no, I'm not saying this is worse than the porn industry as such, far from it just from all the material destruction it brings it's not even close.
