Go to Indochino (or other similar or perhaps better store) when you get back to the states (or do it entirely online). If youre okay with the process taking 2 to 3 weeks start to finish, that's the way to go.
Custom suits are not all that expensive these days and they make an enormous difference in how you look.
It's literally a night and day thing.
Anyway, Indochino is both an online and brick and mortar store you can find in any major US city that usually does custom suits for weddings, but they have a good selection of materials you can customize (pants and jacket fabrics, patterns, and color, jacket liner, pockets, styles etc). Everything is made to order for your measurements. At Indochino expect to spend about $600 to $700 minimum but it's definitely worth every penny imo.
You show up at Indochino, you go in and look through the store and pick some stuff you like off the rack or from their catalog / fabric samples. They usually have decent staff that will walk you through it start to finish. (What jacket goes with what pants, different suit styles, what kind of buttons, fake or real pockets, all that crazy stuff). You can customize it pretty extensively.
You can even do the entire process online and take your own measurements, but I assume it works better if you let their tailors do the measuring. But if you wanted, I think you could do the entire process online.
Anyway so once you pick out your combination of dress shirt, suit jacket, and suit pants, they'll take all your measurements, and you order it as a set, and in a few days ( or a week or two depending) it arrives at the store, and you go try it on. Assuming it mostly fits, and you like it, the tailor you've been working with will take the last set of measurements and will pin the suit on you to make it perfect. Then they'll send it off for the final set of alterations based on the pins.
They ship it out DHL and you'll look like a million bucks.
