What really baffles me is that Macron isn't even that far left, he's just left of center. Correct me if I'm wrong but the current French government is more liberal than him. Why are people treating this like the coming of Sharia Law to Europe? Just because he's respectful of other people? (I realize I'll get Islamic Content ratings for that, but whatever)

Whilst this is a problem - you cannot deny that this is not an issue that is facing Europe atm, the sending of a vast majority of military aged men to Europe that looks strangely like an invasion and people have a right to want to defend their country from that, you are right - Macron is not a win for liberals, for Hillary's pussyhats or for any other individual like that - I saw someone on Twitter describe him as more like Paul Ryan than a Hillary Shill. However, since he's pro EU and people don't like that, people don't like what the EU symbolises, then of course he's going to cop some flack.

Le Pen in her current state wouldn't have made a good leader, I don't know if in any state she would and she certainly isn't the saviour du jour that people on the "altright" were making her out to be, but it's a shame she didn't win, purely because we get no salt. The right isn't going out and setting stuff on fire, they aren't smashing people in the head with U-Locks and they aren't screaming about Russia. Which is sad, but Trump's providing enough salt to probably last for all of humanity.

What are they hoping for, exactly? The only realistic scenarios are four more years of Merkel and a guy who talked about how Germany's only value lies in devoting itself to the Jews, and the AfD (which I have to assume is the party they're rooting behind) is eating itself from within. It'd be more reasonable to expect the Jeb meme to actually happen.

I mean Christians hate fags, but they're not throwing them off buildings or cutting off clits or beating people in public, but I don't think either ticket was about Christianity Vs Islam.
"Liberal Americans" squeal about the need to have the separation between god and state and yet are like "But Sharia doesn't hurt anyone, it's totally respectful", seems a bit :autism: to cut your nose off to spite your face for the sake of not being called a racist.

The fact still remains that people with Islamic beliefs are blowing shit up more often than anyone else is. Just the other day Thailand got culturally enriched but the Western media glosses over that. It is what it is.
