Saw some new gameplay footage of one of those retro-troon games. Looks awful and it looks like Aztrozsist or whatever made it. Got me thinking: Do people actually play these troon-type games? The retro-skinsuit non-innovating slop?

I don't know anything about this game aside from the video you shared, but it doesn't look very bad. I'll admit though, there are a ton of "retro" style indie games that 1) don't actually look retro at all, 2) just crank up all the visual and camera effects to the max on whatever engine they're using and it looks atrocious, and 3) lack any gameplay depth and use the "omg so retro" as its pure gimmick. Itch.io is full of this crap.
is this even really troon slop? just kind of looks like any other surrealist art game but it's trying to be minecraft, and from what i've found the developer is a normal man (albeit cuban). i don't think it's even trying to skinsuit retro aesthetics.
This thread was initially focused solely on Ultrakill but over time it grew out to encompass all the "retro" troonslop games that have come out recently.
As a preface to the thread, there is an Internet phenomena where trannies are obsessed with violent games that have "retro" styling that isn't retro and is just shitty lazy game design. I'm not sure what about low quality textures and models attracts so many trannies but it's there.

The most important thing to remember about the Troon dev cycle is that those people are already living on welfare and parents money, making a game is just another method to waste their lives that would have to reddit/trooncord jannie duties had they've been a bit lazier.
The main thing those people crave is positive attention, they'll make a discord and reddit places for them and will start the infinite early access process. The main people in those groups are other troon devs to signal boost and grooming victims.
Once the game reaches Early Access the dev will work overime to sell it to journos and find suckers to give it a chance while maintaining positive game score. If a journo is stupid enough to say the truth (that the game is shit) the dev and his troon squad and journo buddies will start a harrasment campaign until the journo gives up and rewrites the review.
