For a few days? Is that normal? I admit I don't know much about kidney dialysis. But what I read, he may now have a lifelong chronic condition. I am sure letting his diabetes get out of control caused this. Anxious to hear more.Tomorrow I’m having a liver transplant. Had 1 Tylenol with a beer.

I'd have to dig for it to be honest, that was years ago, lol. If I find time I'll see what I can do.Great info.
No chance of you posting that AMA with Lucas's old roommate? I'm not a Sofalaw member.
This just adds to what I was saying yesterday about the ketoacidosis. Kidney failure is a common result of that, and he showed a lot of the symptoms. Dude has possibly reached the absolute limit of the abuse he could subject his body to. If he continues to consume sugary food and drink after this, he's unlikely to last long enough to see 44.I never heard dialysis used for dehydration, but I am no nurse or doctor.
Thought he more like graduated from Mallon House.if he left on his own accord, couldn't mallon refuse him if he tried to come back?
Mallon House or other assisted living is the only way he will make it through this alive. He's in denial about why he's here to begin with. He won't stop pounding down the sugar as long as he's in control of his own diet. From Mayo ClinicView attachment 3564978
This episode could land him back at Mallon House.

and there it is, the beginning of the end for lucas. He is now officially fucked. He can't be trusted with anything, never takes meds unless he's forced, is too stupid to do them properly anyway if he wasn't and is absolutely pathologically incapable of watching his diet, let alone of adhering to a special renal diet on his own. His obesity, beetus and hobo lifestyle have officially caught up to him and are royally fucking himTomorrow I’m having a liver transplant. Had 1 Tylenol with a beer.

He's trying to downplay it and doing it in a weird way. For somebody with failing kidneys its up to 3 times a week, and up to 5 hours per session. There is no 'for a few days' in the way he's trying to make it sound. Dialysis isn't something you do for a couple days and then go on your merry way cured like taking a dose of antibiotics. This isn't just the beetus, its the fact its untreated, he's morbidly obese, not watching his sugars or anything else, lives a hobo lifestyle most of the time and the meds he's on very likely aren't helping eitherDa Dude123 said:For a few days? Thats because it isn't. Dehydration treatment is IV fluids. Only way you'd end up dialysis from it is in very specific circumstances like you were out in the desert for weeks slowing dying from dehydration and only getting barely enough water to survive, that ended up fucking your kidneys as a result. Nothing lucas has done would cause the kind of dehydration that would put someone on dialysis in and of itself.Vi0l3t said:I never heard dialysis used for dehydration, but I am no nurse or doctor.
He did, basically the nursing homes halfway house. But this changes things. Its very likely he'll be back at the actual nursing home side of things so his meds can be monitored and the proper food provided for a renal diet. No way he can be trusted to do that on his own. On the other hand there is no guarantee there are any open spaces for him there as they likely filled his as soon as he was out. So, he could find himself with an extended stay at the hospital itself. At least until such a spot opens up at mallon, or some similar placecheesycukes said:Thought he more like graduated from Mallon House.
They didn't help, you can be sure of that, but at worst its likely they just sped things up a little. This is one of those long time coming, chickens coming home to roost kind of situations for his healthGleamingTheQ-Bert said:Could it be the Venom?
Energy drinks, enough of them at least... that's gottybe bad news.
Dialysis patients can go on for years IF they are serious in following medical advice and the strict diet they are place on.Tomorrow I’m having a liver transplant. Had 1 Tylenol with a beer.

It's not only sugar that's bad, its carbs, which he eats probably more than sugar with fries burgers breaded meats chips....Mallon House or other assisted living is the only way he will make it through this alive.
