Sounds like a mix of that Kwanza guy's comics where black people are the only ones with superpowers but are still kept down by The White Man ... somehow, and a shitty version of the US in the Deadlands RPG. Plus throw in some of the utter stupidity and 'Good Blacks Can't Commit Evil' of CW's Batwoman.

Always a good reminder that the problem with these things isn't even with the concept, it's with the severe lack of talent. Black people have gotten their wish - they get to make mediocre-to-terrible shows as well. Pity they can't stop crying racism about why they fail when it's much more obviously the absence of any artistic ability whatsoever.

Still, the last few years of wokeness has given us some of the most racist shit I've ever seen, all from the pens, mouths and actions of people firmly convinced they're on the right side of history while uplifting black people, the only POC who matter.

What bothers me is the guy in my opinion was probably suffering from mental illness, schizophrenia would be my guess or something like that, so his racism was not coming from a normal, healthy mind, the lack of sympathy towards him for that bothers me, the fact that people can't seem to keep any sort of context or accept any nuance with it is wrong.

People are messy and complicated, that's what makes art interesting and his art in particular is a perfect example of that, the fact that people can no longer understand that people can be flawed but it doesn't always make them bad people or worthless.

He probably was, i seem to recall his family from his mother's side had a history of mental illness. But despite his flaws, the man was incredibly smart and self-conscious even for a man of his time. But you'll never know because "hurr durr what's his cat's name?" is the first thing anyone brings up when his name comes up, instead of his interactions with other writers or the material he actually wrote.

Here's an interesting nugget: one of his recurring themes in much of his writing is the double-edged sword that is ignorance (one would imply that is the true horror, but that's for another discussion); Too little of it, and knowing that at any second, a massive psychic seafood behemoth could rise out of literal fucking nowhere in the Pacific and drive us all insane, or that a funky colored rock shat out towards Earth could send the lives of a small town tits-up, knowing in the cosmic scale we are worthless is a harrowing thought with little upside. Too much ignorance, and you're no better than the inbred hicks sacrificing people to a pagan fish god, the idiot that got possessed by his great great granfather, or the retard that came up with "The Sovereign States of America."

I have serious doubts its going to be as simple as classism and wealth inequality. No one cares about contemporary classism, they care about what color of said people make up what classes. The only classism will be a majority white men making up the rich while the amalgamated browns are the lower class. Studies in the UK focused on who was doing the worst in school and it turned out it wasn't precious POCs in central London... it was white kids in rural coast towns without much access to education, no local economy to offer jobs and being completely ignored by politicians focussed on precious POCs in central London.

I am more offended by the fact that the map there has absolutely no regards for natural barriers or anything else that usually informs borders than the stupid racial politics of it. They just drew random lines on a map to makes those provinces.

Lovecraft really came to regret a lot of his earlier writings towards the end of his life, going so far as to refuse republication of some of his works even when he was nearly penniless because of the racism. Likewise he became pretty anti-facist (that's 1930s facism) while also becoming more pro-worker without being a full communist. He also predicted how literary creativity would be strangled by profit-driven publishers, either watering down difficult subjects or outright refusing publication which was an issue when he wanted to write less cosmic horror and more weird shit like the silver key and the witch house.

Unfortunatly hollywood types refuse to see anything other than black and white while using a broad brush for both characters and plot. Heaven forbid a man might change his veiws or grow, then again I imagine that speaks volumes if they fail to understand how someone might be able to develop their own ideas.

The guy grew up in upper-middle-class New York at the turn of the century, he was pretty racist but hardly an outlier in terms of how blacks, asians, irish and jews were veiwed by society. Pile onto that seeing the immigration coming into NY at that time, it's far from shocking that someone could develop racist attitudes at a time of high migration or have it enforced when you're in a white-bubble. As time went on and he actually got out and saw the world, developed his ideas, etc. he realised how the world really was different than from his perception of his privileged youth which really makes the parallels here too ironic.

The writers all exist within their own ecosystem, bouncing ideas off people who only think like them and the producers and executives who greenlight it just go along with it because literally any incompetant can get a job in hollywood if you know the right people, irregardless of how shitty your ideas or even you trackrecord is.
