the original metropolis cut
iirc isn't the current version (post that print that belonged to Nobody In Particular that surfaced in around mid 00s in South America, where Nobody In Particular was heading if things went bad during Nobody In Particular's war) mostly all of the complete version minus a minute or few?

  • 153 minutes (original)
  • 148 minutes (2010)
Hard to complain, really

Back in 2010, there was a trailer for a Thai ripoff of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast where the Beast has Simba’s head.

Dead link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIhE7e5-YOI

There was also a Snow White one, but I don’t have any images of it. And the channel that uploaded the trailers is gone. Only the links remain.

EDIT: The channel still exists, just not the videos.

So Turn-On was found. All 2 episodes in fact.
It aired in 1969 and was canceled mid-episode. Episode 2 wasn't even aired at all.

I think it's brilliant. It's like memes before internet. And I love the vintage commercials.
We certainly had memes before the internet, often in the form of lines or slogans in advertising...

"You wonder where the yellow went."
"I rather fight than switch!"
"Stronger than dirt!"
"Two mints in one."
"It's finger lickin' good!"
"Ring around the Collar"
"Ancient Chinese Secret"
"I'm fallen and I can't get up!"

I was scrolling through the Lost Media Wiki forums and people on there are seriously talking about "lost media" from blameinonjorge and LSSQ. I wish they could expand the focus from 90's-00's cartoons and bumpers to the bigger world but there you go. Don't know if the "lost media community" is thread-worthy or not but some of them are a personal lolcow.

Example: the two episodes of "Turn-On" got uploaded to Youtube and nobody cares! Not even featured on the Wiki. They're not great but I appreciate that they were trying to get this on prime-time network TV in the 60's, it's genuinely unsettling.

The Algorithm recommended Turn-On to me a couple hours ago. I've watched about 10 minutes of the first episode, and I don't think I've ever seen so many jokes and sketches crammed into such a short period. Many of the jokes either don't land or are no longer relevant, but there's some absolute gold in there.

Of all the jokes, the funniest one is how Turn-On was sponsored by a brand of aspirin. I can't figure out if it was deliberate on behalf of the producers and the sponsor, or if it's just a happy little accident that Turn-On ended up being kinda headache-inducing.

I have never seen a show that could be more accurately described as "it was written from the stream-of-consciousness from someone that got very high".

The description in the second episode says:

so, y'know, back it up

I honestly couldn't tell when the commercials started and/or when the show started until the product appeared at the very end. Were ads in 1969 just as "lol random" as this show, or were sponsorship ads kind of like YouTube sponsorships today where the creators have a hand in making them?

The show definitely had some potential -- but just fell flat and the random stop-motion/puppets/2D cartoons sliding by, and sped up "dance routines" didn't help. Was more annoying than offensive (reading the Wikipedo article makes you think it was the worst thing that ever aired).

There is a large number of youtube videos that I remember from my childhood and even recently that are just gone. Either deleted by Youtube, recently embarrassed uploaders, or the many nasty copy right cops that patrol that website. Some of it is even just buried in the algorithm by priority of journo shit media videos.
It's quite depressing that one of the mainstays of your childhood can be completely gone without a trace.

No different from losing a favorite store you been to decades ago. You just have your memories if it.

Marco Polo: due to its lavish sets and vast scale
Daleks Master Plan: Biggest ever serial of the show, which includes some of the first doctor's best moments
Power of the Daleks: the single best lost episode given the script, audio, and photos/clips we have.
Evil of the Daleks: Joint second best with Fury From the Deep.
Fury from the Deep: Joint second best and arguably the single greatest horror episode(s) in the show's history. Suck on that weeping angels.
Fury From the Deep and Evil and Power of the Daleks got remade as animation with the original soundtracks.

Sadly, the production of the lost Doctor Who serials are in question at the moment. BBC recently stated that there multiple serials they won't remake because of logistics (basically anything with huge numbers of people running that would require a larger animation budget is off the table since most of the animation is done by studios willing to do the work on the cheap and are huge fans of the franchise) and that several serials that only exist as audio recordings, like the Crusades, only exist in a quality that the BBC has deemed "unusable" for animation reconstruction.

I think it really sucks when a gmod youtuber or somebody known for being vulgar cuts back or censors themself so some of the funniest shit he's done is lost to time.

Thankfully, someone was nice enough to save this.

I was watching Blameitonjorge’s Disturbing lost media from Reddit video.
@12:21
I got through the 9/11 archive segment where he talks about an old shock video called “LOL Superman”. It was supposed video footage of people who jumped the towers and hitting the ground. I feel like I’ve watched it when I was younger but then again, as Jorge said. There was a lot of edgy 9/11 video back then on YouTube that people might’ve misconstrued together. It’s either real or completely fake/misremembering of similar videos. If it’s real, maybe some older Kiwi’s remember seeing it back then
