The show not doing anything unique wasn't really the point, it's besides that if anything. People just like seeing xenophobic characters destroy monsters with no mercy, that will always have some universal appeal. It'd be like saying that the sky is blue and every 60 seconds is a minute in Africa.

What's really going on is that Delta here has an axe to grind with anyone who objects to the more questionable content, i.e his favorite lolishit. He also does not care to hear those with more nuanced perspectives because he's stuck in his box, believing his way to enjoy anime is the correct one.
