Erm uhm akshually Mabinogi was notoriously unoptimized and ran like fucking dogshit even on a very decent PC because it was poorly coded gookshit (I played from the NA beta until a few years ago). Yeah it ran like aids but it was free and could at least run. It's not a very graphically intense game, so the load times and frame rates weren't actually as jarring to me back then as they would be now. I think for the most part the previously 32 bit engine was just unable to perform well in general. No clue about now. I mostly just emulate old shit when I get home from work.

Actually, off topic as hell but I do think I actually grew up preferring the shit frame rates of older titles. Think ps1-ps2 games, or a lot of the 64 titles. I can't play modern shit, high frame rates have to much going on for me to keep up with so I get headaches when I try them. Gave helldivers a crack and walked away with a migrane. Relatable?
