Lolicon/Shotacon Defense Force - The people who jerk off to cartoon children and won't ever shut up about it

Reminder that in 2020, Mark Mann contacted me before he migrated 8chan's /v/ over to .moe because he liked 9chan more (which I hosted for maybe 3? months). Both sites were new and competing. However, I had rules constraining lolicon to a single board and would not allow it outside of that board. I also had a rule that user-operated boards must be at least 4 letters long. His demands for moving over were:

1. He got /v/, and would accept no other board name.
2. He got exclusive control over /v/ and I would not direct him to moderate in any way other than how he wanted.
3. /v/ would have lolicon, including nsfw lolicon.

He literally called me on the phone about this and did the whole song and dance about how lolicon is gross and he doesn't condone it etc etc but the gamers on his /v/ would never, ever post on a site that didn't let them post lolicon alongside video game discussion.

Oh, and let's not forget that crazed white man who came to shoot up Comet Pizza, but conveniently didn't kill anyone and only arrived there to destroy a hard drive with some sensitive data that could blow the whole thing wide open. Funny how that works, I bet he was one of those crazed right wing /pol/ users too!
I think some of that research is saved, but problem is that 8chan never got it's shit together enough to create the same kind of archives 4chan has.

How exactly does a chan make money? Do board owners rent the boards? Or did he have more autism then sense?

I know the voat archive gets smaller and stuff disappears from it. that research got scattered across the wind. Hopefully something comes out of it in the future?

Feds had access to 4chan even back in Moot era. They get by because it is a fantastic honeypot, even today. Let's not even go over the disgusting shit Hiroshima has done to 2chan, which he's probably doing to 4chan as well. Just assume whatever you posted there, including whatever IP and metadata you used, is sold to the highest bidder and can be linked to your real life identity, that's where the real money is at for these agencies.

Sites like 8chan and lainchan take donations, some use ads. 4chan pays its costs with ads and passes. Most imageboard just bleed money as said above.

For the majority of its run it was paid by its owners, the first owner, soot, ran a sharty that had way less activity compared to now meaning costs were way lower and he could pay for it all by himself even if he was just a college student. Kuz the second owner had lots of money so he just paid for the costs. Issues started arising with doll who couldn’t afford too keep up the site so he had to resort to donations which failed to reach its goal resulting in the site going down for weeks now know as the “soypocalypse”. The owner after that froot started using ads. Currently the sharty is paid for by running ads on soybooru.

Ah, ok. I use brave so i don't see the ads. Also that place while more active than 8kun is kinda dead.
