Stick to the boys aisle at Toys R Us M8
Please link some example /g/ posts, and I'll take a look. Though also keep in mind this is an anonymous imageboard. People who post in /g/ a lot may not necessarily post in other boards, and people who post controversial statements may be religiously samefagging or posting the same sentiment in multiple threads. I know it's easy for me to lazily use that as a shield, but it's worth remembering.
My personal view: some of the threads are definitely like that, but a lot aren't. There's more going on than you might think.
One part of the problem is imageboards, by default, tend to do a very bad job at preserving backstory and history. If you wanted to understand why certain people are disliked, you really would have to start looking at ancient /cgl/ and MaxFag and StaminaRose threads, some of which may have began 5+ years ago. Having something like a wiki would improve the situation greatly, but if I added it odds are almost no one would use it. The board often doesn't bother passing on events and stories like this over the years, which is exacerbated by the fact that sites keep getting shut down and migrated.
For example: "CandyOrange" (OrangeCitrus), the girl you're talking about, was an administrator of a forum (PULL) that serves as a kind of structured counterpart to lolcow.farm and its predecessors. It's to lolcow.farm as this site is to /cow/.
Basically, she was (and still is) an extremely overzealous, oversensitive, petty Social Justice Warrior who tried to rule the forum with an iron fist until they finally kicked her out. She would ban people who talked about subjects she disliked or who criticized her. Anything "triggering" was banned.
She is known for lots of interpersonal drama that mostly involves betraying her friends, cheating on her significant other repeatedly (and then lying to him about it by saying she was raped), lying about facts of her life (telling said forum she constantly got bullied for having large breasts when she was stuffing her bra in all her pictures; making up various stories about being bullied or physically assaulted; claiming to have agoraphobia when some of her friends attested that she never had problems going outside) for attention and victim points... all while desperately attempting to become an e-famous "cute" Internet personality/Youtuber. She even asked a friend to make a whole imageboard just for her, called OrangeChan (now gone, though you can see an archive mentioning it here), to aid with her constant attempts to market herself to the Internet. Now she's a MyFreeCams model and "age plays" for money from middle-aged/old pedophiles. There's more I'm missing regarding her, but those are the major details I think.
The numerous comments about her appearance are a consequence of all that, not the core impetus of the discussion itself. You're not going to call a random stranger you see on the street an ugly cunt, but you might mock the appearance of your bitchy crazy hooknosed stepmother to your close friends.
OrangeCitrus is actually, incidentally, a subject of discussion on a completely different imageboard that's almost entirely male, where her appearance and personality is mocked just as ruthlessly, and in numerous threads that seem to get as big as the ones on lolcow. Between that other imageboard, MaxFag, and SR, there are probably at least a dozen threads covering her antics that were never archived and are simply lost forever. Having all those archived and in one place would certainly help people understand why someone's a topic of discussion... if you have the time to read like 30,000 posts, at least.
And it's a similar case with many other girls. You may open the thread and just see general shittalking, but in reality there are years and years of history there that's driving the negative sentiment.
A lot of these finer details are not included in threads. A lot of this does not ever get documented and becomes lost to time. Some people stop remembering everything that led up to them disliking someone, and only mostly remember just that they dislike them, so trying to explain it to others becomes kind of difficult. These kinds of details are often expected to be general knowledge among the posters. And considering we started off as a pretty small and relatively homogenous community, this usually worked ok. It does make things very confusing and off-putting for outsiders, and I've been thinking of ways to address it for a while. Forums and wikis are better for this, which is why Kiwifarms is better when it comes to empirical and documented narratives of misdeeds.
Now, as for whether you find any of that subjectively funny... that's another story completely. I think they become a lot funnier when you have a personal stake in the issue, like being a part of a sub-community the person is in, or knowing them personally. I can completely understand how someone with utterly no knowledge of the people involved would not find any of it funny. It's just not that sort of website. We're not trying to be a female Kiwifarms. Perhaps the name "lolcow.farm" is a little misleading to people who have one image of what the word "lolcow" means, but the word has been used on the Internet for a while to generally refer to any person who is considered unintentionally amusing to anyone.
A big factor that's being missed here is that this site mostly isn't for general autismlord lolcows. It's for people who are putting themselves out there, are doing something silly or stupid or contemptible, and are also part of a community/subculture that's shared by most of the users; in this case Japanese fashion and related matters. Imagine you had an anonymous discussion site just for your university. Even if people outside the university probably wouldn't give a shit if Michael the Valedictorian got chlamydia from fucking a dude off Craigslist, you might find it funny or at least interesting, because of your personal acquaintance to him and shared social circle. You could see how a 1000-post thread would be made about it, even though people who are not affiliated with university would probably not find it particularly amusing.
On an unrelated note is that a link to unichan? I had no idea that still existed. If i was wanting to give the impression my sites subjects were worthy of discussion i would not have linked to that forgotten dive!
Some of that shit makes incels marrying their body pillow look positively normal.
Threads like this are why I never let anybody tell me that women can't be gross and weird too.
I just puked from reading that threadI thought that was established long ago with the /cgl/ cap that gets around regularly.
