Why are they giving cunt types cutesy nicknames? Just why.
/r9k/ is (i think) the origin point of "roastie"

since the entirety of that place's culture is based on figuring out what people are insecure about and then relentlessly insulting them along those lines, they figured that women (in general?) are insecure about their labia and have fairly constant threads where they discuss how disgusting "roasties" are.

Mixed feelings on lolcow.farm.

My initial impression was pretty shitty which was about 6 months or so ago when they booted me out of their chatroom for being a dang dirty male.
Also for anyone curious what their chat usually looks like....

Pretty empty most days. And they have two pages full of just Pepe related emotes.

On the flipside though, when I have came back again more recently, the lolcow.farm admin has been there and I've not been getting harassed at all.
She seems fine, and talked with me at lengths about our recent Kiwi Farms server upgrade. She seemed to think we could have optimized it better cost-wise and was tech literate for sure. I don't think she ever uses a handle other than 'Admin', which is sorta the route Null tried to go for picking a "null" impersonal name. Idea of female Null is strange.

Also her opinion of Kiwi was better than that of /cow/. Curious to hear her thoughts now that this thread is out.

I'm not going to lie: I love lolcow.farm. I've always thought about it as the girl version of Kiwi Farms.

There's waaaaay too much powerleveling and bitchery, but whatever. Their stuff on the anorexic girls, on Pixyteri, on Tumblr shoplifting rings is amazing.

Reminder: "If you need to tell people you're better than someone, you're probably not." And there's nothing spergier than spergs sperging on spergs.

tl;dr these are our sisters
Kiwi Farms is the female Kiwi Farms. Out of all of the *Chan subculture sites, this one probably comes the closest to being 50/50 male/female.

I'd just like to interject for a moment.

I can say with certainty it has degraded into what essentially is a Wizardchan for Women. If you attempt to access Lolcow.farm from 8chan, you are redirected to reddit.com/r/8chan. The only other website I know that does this is Wizardchan. This shows they have something to hide.

What you're referring to as "Wizardchan for Women" is, in fact, merely a /cgl/ offshoot that also happens to have a general/misc discussion board (/b/).

The 8chan redirect to reddit was only added because they were spamming every board with gore and random shitposting. Nothing is being hidden.

I think the misandry thread is not representative of the community. A quick look at the /b/ catalog will confirm there aren't and have never been other threads like it. (There's one thread that jokingly refers to misandry, but it's clearly not serious.) It's one of the two threads I've basically let 4channers and 8channers have almost free reign in; the other being the robot thread. And, purely personally, I think anyone who dislikes or hates a gender is irrational and likely not very bright.

I find it really funny that people seem to think the site is supposed to be some kind of female /r9k/ or Wizardchan. It's not even close.

Sorry for the confusion, but if a lot of posts look like shitposts, then it just gives off the impression that it's nothing but shitposts.

That might explain why we were only able to find relatively limited reserves of Autism to amuse ourselves with.

That said, a lot of the boards come across as miserable and depressing. I do not envy the task you have before you, Farministrator.

That's fair. But it really is just the one thread, plus there are many dissenting posts in it from people who have been in the community for a long time. If you want to criticize the content in /pt/, be my guest, but judging the whole site based on the misandry thread would be pretty silly.

Setting aside anything else, the most fascinating thing about the site to me is that it lacks any real entertainment value. There is no "funny". It's almost entirely comprised of people ridiculing others for their looks with no substantive impetus behind it. They take a random camgirl who's doing what hundreds of other camgirls are doing, and then say their tits are ugly.

We have a thread on Pixyteri that's a running joke with the community because only two kinds of people visit it. 1) Women calling her ugly over and over and over again in many different ways, and 2) men saying she's fat and that they would not have sex with her. The Lolcow Farm is an entire website that is mostly the first of these two things, and I cannot possibly imagine what brings someone to visit it every day.

And you're absolutely incorrect about it being one controlled thread. I looked at /b/ for five seconds to find that, but in the Girl Talk board there's massive anti-male sentiment, especially in threads about dating. While it may be true that 4chan/8chan is trying to throw out bait, I don't think this wide sweeping sense of ill will can be considered an attack.

I'm not going to wave any fingers and say "website x is better than website y", I understand communities have different appeals, but I cannot possibly imagine why anyone would want to go to some place that is so unhappy and soulless. Absolutely every single post I see makes me think that the person writing it just hates themselves and their bodies and compensates by comparing their good traits against the bad traits of other women. It's petty, vindictive, and the absolute antithesis of what funny should be. I made a post once asking about a girl called CandyOrange or something, some pasty white cam girl, and I couldn't get a really solid answer as to why people hated her. I was told her boobs were too far apart, and were "too low" on her body (??), and her haircut was dumb. Someone said that she was a gold digger (which is a rare trait of camwhores), and that by looking young she was trying to jerk off pedophiles, but it's like .. I either couldn't figure out what they were talking about or they didn't say the right words. The entire conversation was just "fuck this bitch and her tits, I don't like her". It gave me this vacant, miserable feeling just being there to have that one conversation.

Edit:
Idea of female Null is strange.
You mean sexy.

@Farministrator, don't yall want to have fun? There's as much fun on those pages as there is in a well lit rape underpass.

Far be it for me to tell you to shut it down, Pitbull can do that instead.

Cows should bring joy. I tend to smile at least once per visit to KF, I'd love to know that there was a ladies club doing the same thing, but like Null said, its just kinda sad over there, like a musty basement.

Please link some example /g/ posts, and I'll take a look. Though also keep in mind this is an anonymous imageboard. People who post in /g/ a lot may not necessarily post in other boards, and people who post controversial statements may be religiously samefagging or posting the same sentiment in multiple threads. I know it's easy for me to lazily use that as a shield, but it's worth remembering.

My personal view: some of the threads are definitely like that, but a lot aren't. There's more going on than you might think.

One part of the problem is imageboards, by default, tend to do a very bad job at preserving backstory and history. If you wanted to understand why certain people are disliked, you really would have to start looking at ancient /cgl/ and MaxFag and StaminaRose threads, some of which may have began 5+ years ago. Having something like a wiki would improve the situation greatly, but if I added it odds are almost no one would use it. The board often doesn't bother passing on events and stories like this over the years, which is exacerbated by the fact that sites keep getting shut down and migrated.

For example: "CandyOrange" (OrangeCitrus), the girl you're talking about, was an administrator of a forum (PULL) that serves as a kind of structured counterpart to lolcow.farm and its predecessors. It's to lolcow.farm as this site is to /cow/.

Basically, she was (and still is) an extremely overzealous, oversensitive, petty Social Justice Warrior who tried to rule the forum with an iron fist until they finally kicked her out. She would ban people who talked about subjects she disliked or who criticized her. Anything "triggering" was banned.

She is known for lots of interpersonal drama that mostly involves betraying her friends, cheating on her significant other repeatedly (and then lying to him about it by saying she was raped), lying about facts of her life (telling said forum she constantly got bullied for having large breasts when she was stuffing her bra in all her pictures; making up various stories about being bullied or physically assaulted; claiming to have agoraphobia when some of her friends attested that she never had problems going outside) for attention and victim points... all while desperately attempting to become an e-famous "cute" Internet personality/Youtuber. She even asked a friend to make a whole imageboard just for her, called OrangeChan (now gone, though you can see an archive mentioning it here), to aid with her constant attempts to market herself to the Internet. Now she's a MyFreeCams model and "age plays" for money from middle-aged/old pedophiles. There's more I'm missing regarding her, but those are the major details I think.

The numerous comments about her appearance are a consequence of all that, not the core impetus of the discussion itself. You're not going to call a random stranger you see on the street an ugly cunt, but you might mock the appearance of your bitchy crazy hooknosed stepmother to your close friends.

OrangeCitrus is actually, incidentally, a subject of discussion on a completely different imageboard that's almost entirely male, where her appearance and personality is mocked just as ruthlessly, and in numerous threads that seem to get as big as the ones on lolcow. Between that other imageboard, MaxFag, and SR, there are probably at least a dozen threads covering her antics that were never archived and are simply lost forever. Having all those archived and in one place would certainly help people understand why someone's a topic of discussion... if you have the time to read like 30,000 posts, at least.

And it's a similar case with many other girls. You may open the thread and just see general shittalking, but in reality there are years and years of history there that's driving the negative sentiment.

A lot of these finer details are not included in threads. A lot of this does not ever get documented and becomes lost to time. Some people stop remembering everything that led up to them disliking someone, and only mostly remember just that they dislike them, so trying to explain it to others becomes kind of difficult. These kinds of details are often expected to be general knowledge among the posters. And considering we started off as a pretty small and relatively homogenous community, this usually worked ok. It does make things very confusing and off-putting for outsiders, and I've been thinking of ways to address it for a while. Forums and wikis are better for this, which is why Kiwifarms is better when it comes to empirical and documented narratives of misdeeds.

Now, as for whether you find any of that subjectively funny... that's another story completely. I think they become a lot funnier when you have a personal stake in the issue, like being a part of a sub-community the person is in, or knowing them personally. I can completely understand how someone with utterly no knowledge of the people involved would not find any of it funny. It's just not that sort of website. We're not trying to be a female Kiwifarms. Perhaps the name "lolcow.farm" is a little misleading to people who have one image of what the word "lolcow" means, but the word has been used on the Internet for a while to generally refer to any person who is considered unintentionally amusing to anyone.

A big factor that's being missed here is that this site mostly isn't for general autismlord lolcows. It's for people who are putting themselves out there, are doing something silly or stupid or contemptible, and are also part of a community/subculture that's shared by most of the users; in this case Japanese fashion and related matters. Imagine you had an anonymous discussion site just for your university. Even if people outside the university probably wouldn't give a shit if Michael the Valedictorian got chlamydia from fucking a dude off Craigslist, you might find it funny or at least interesting, because of your personal acquaintance to him and shared social circle. You could see how a 1000-post thread would be made about it, even though people who are not affiliated with university would probably not find it particularly amusing.

"Well-Lit Rape Underpass" is now officially a meme. Let it be enshrined into the record.

And the "Jesus Christ, seek help" award goes to....

None of this sounds fun.

It's hard for me to comment due to not being familiar with her history as is @Farministrator and other users there, but as a frequent participant in the love-shy subforum here, I do believe there can be some entertainment and fun derived from mocking objectively horrible people, as odd as it may seem. @Marjan Šiklić has actually raped women, many other cows there openly support child molestation and murdering women. Hell, the predecessor to Sluthate, PUAhate, was a forum that Elliot Rodger frequented before actually committing a mass shooting that resulted in a number of deaths and injuries.

While I won't attempt to defend specifically the love-shy subforum as being entertaining or fun, or lolcow.farm either, but I believe the fact we have an entire subforum for love-shy bullshit here on the Kiwi Farms is proof enough a large enough group of (relatively) normal people can enjoy such horrible cows.

Oh no the cow sounds fun, the reaction to the cow is what sounds less than fun. Like they're just upset at this person and stew in how upset they are.

The loveshys are delightful shit humans and I totally agree with you there. They're great and watching them spaz is fun. The jokes that come from watching them spaz are fun.

I've only browsed the lolcowfarm for a good 20 minutes, and it's just full of anger and spite. Instead of saying Xcow is funny for being a fuck tard, they're upset at the fucktardedness. This whole thing has the same rules as a porno theater, if it don't feel good why are they watching?

I don't have to imagine what this would be like since YikYak is a thing that exists, and it's nothing like this.
