For anyone wondering, don't worry, the site was just down for a 12-hour scheduled maintenance. The mods moved it to a new server and it's back up.

In regards to your question, I can't remember exactly. I think the new mod came in around 18 months ago, give or take a few.

For December, there was a month long Hellmas of hyper moderation to kill off non-integraters. I honestly haven't used the site very much lately so I don't know how successful that was or how it relates to your complaint about /ot/ and /snow/.

I also haven't seen too much really notable milk. I'm sure the Luigi Mangione aka lolcow's husband (currently on #10) has a ton but I don't feel like sorting through over 10,000 of thirstposting. The only funny new thread I've seen lately is on /m/: Incest Thread. 9 days old and already has 489 posts.
 
I've just been IP banned for the second time in the past year even though I never post on the site and just lurk. Wtf.

Because it's a non static IP someone else will have used it before you and gotten banned. Your home WiFi (unless you have adjusted the settings otherwise) will generally have the same IP each time you use it so it's effectively tied to you until you force it to change. This is why they get annoyed over there with VPN users because they can't actually ban you if you are using it due to the IP changing every time.

Even without VPN, mobile networks change IPs all the time so if you use your phone you run into this issue sometimes. I only know because it will show me what "I" got banned for and it will be some comment I never made on a thread I never go on.

Edited to add: just reset your VPN and you should be good.

Latest update from not-4Chan is that they’ve gotten around to doing a VPN ban poll after teasing it for months

It seems that most anons don’t want a full VPN ban and it’s being talked about in an /ot/ thread. Beyond the typical infighting and back and forth accusing each other of being zoomers and new friends (because God forbid anyone disagree with you without being evil incarnate) there’s some sperging about the fact that banning VPNs will just push users to KiwiFarms. The funniest thing about this thread is anti-VPN anons showing they didn’t read the announcement and getting other anti-VPN anons mad at them, just proving that Lolcow is immune from looking in the mirror and realizing that sometimes they’re the problem, not the men or children in their life

Voting closes in a week. I haven't kept up with the VPN vs. anti-VPN discourse, but I bet it's the usual scapegoat situation. Anyone who knows more, please share.

"Ugly Man Psyop Thread" when weird to inbred-looking men like Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston (specifically compared to his Marvel counterparts in the first Avengers movie, which is when mania for him as Loki soared), and more recently (briefly) Mark Ruffalo, Pedro Pascal and Barry fucking Keoghan are considered attractive by women without any interference from Hollywood.

YMMV but women not understanding that their emotional attachments to these men (like women still having a soft spot for Zac Efron despite how fucked his face has become) often leads to them overlooking or accepting physical imperfections while it might be seen as the opposite for men is baffling.

And it will be women, not men, who will screech the loudest over other women. Sydney Sweeney is a perfect example. Most men only care about her tits, see a picture of her online and go about their day, meanwhile women will spend hours lampooning her looks, her figure, her persona, her acting, her styling, everything, because they're upset she's getting 'positive' male attention (i.e. straight guys they themselves consider attractive would fuck her).

It's all so tiring. And part of why I had to stop visiting lolcow.farm.
