Yeah some stuff is indefensible. There's a retarded bans/redtext thread and sometimes there's some ridiculous shit there. Jannies not catching a reference or joke is a common one. You can feel the mod team change just by the kinds of bans.
Ok but derailing and infighting are annoying and should be banned. There's been an increase on it too.
For sure some of this stuff is annoying, and lolcow users are terrible, but the red texting is so aggressive that it's often more annoying than whatever the original crime was. Is it really that big of a deal if someone doesn't press enter? Every where else on the internet self polices reddit spacing and it's fine.

"Reddit" spacing is something I'll never understand. Isn't it the correct way to separate paragraphs in english? I've seen people complain about it here but like. You're just writing correctly.

It's mostly just a "oh redditors do this ergo its bad" kneejerk reaction, although it can also make posts slightly more difficult to scroll through if the post is very lengthy.
As for the redtext spam from the mods, a part of me likes it more compared to other imageboards where your post just vanishes into the aether without a single reason, and new posters on the thread won't be able to know what not to do to avoid rustling the jannies' jimmies.

Wouldn't it make it easier? Lots of paragraphs immediately after another would make a solid block of text. Also if the previous paragraph ends close to the end of the line, it would seem they're just one big paragraph.

It made sense there as it was the dead giveaway of any tourist that came from reddit at the time the site cracked down on any sub they deemed right or right-leaning and tourists shitting up every board. I remember the meltdowns of plebbitors when they've been called out as such, good times. Never made sense calling out people for reddit spacing outside of 4chan, not even on other IB.

What is the political stance of the general userbase? I see a good range of opinions but it does seem very identity-lib-girlboss at times, then racist and retarded at others. Will we ever exist on neutral grounds nonnies?
LC user base has changed a lot since I first found it, more reactive these days (the jannies and users) but this could be a symptom of any group gaining a large sum of tiktok normies.
There was also a time a few years ago when posting even the slightest off topic thing in certain threads got you banned and sometimes post deleted, so even if bad now it's still way more relaxed than those dark days.

Things were good until they weren't. If abortion is banned in the US, there *will* be back alley abortions and those *can* result in sepsis and death.
