The most similar to LISA the Painful gameplay wise

Difficulty wise it's akin to Painful.

I was thinking of trying one of these someday but I guess I'll see if there's a decent LP. Ultrageneric JRPG gameplay with silly names for status effects lost its novelty with the original Earthbound.

Hopeful and Pointless are better than Joyful imo. Joyful lacked pretty much any sense of humor at all.

unpopular (??) opinion: lisa: the hopeful is the best lisa fangame.

as much as i like lisa: the pointless, it doesn’t have a very ‘ lisa ‘ feel. i think hopeful, as a fan game, is very accurate to the lisa world. honestly, if you changed a couple of things up, pointless could stand as it’s own game. it has very little aspects about lisa in it. im not saying it’s a bad game; it’s far from it, but from a fan game standpoint, hopeful is better.

None of the LISA fangames are good. None of them. They're all just buddy adventures set in the desert that lack any of the emotional impact The Painful had. The fact that most of them use the trial-and-error gameplay that Pointless introduced doesn't help. The only consolation is that of the five hundred fangames that get announced every day only a handful actually get released.

Honestly gonna have to agree. Every fangame I've seen has completely missed the mark on what really makes the Lisa games so incredible, and focuses way too hard on the "fun desert lol!" stuff, instead of the "emotional trauma that follows you forever and seeps into every aspect of your life" stuff. The only fangame that seems to be worth playing is Pointless, but that's only marginally. It would've been a much better game without the Lisa name attached, but as it stands, it's just another meh-tier fangame that we really could have done without.

Also the Wishless is one of the worst games I've ever seen, fangame or otherwise. That dev needs to issue a fucking worldwide apology for that shit.
