It's internet and millennial hyperbole combined with being to need the biggest victim in the world. Saying anything bad about trannies leads to less tolerance for trannies. Less tolerance for trannies leads to more violence against them. While that has a somewhat logical flow, it isn't applicable to every ill word spoken about trannies in any context and it doesn't hold up when scrutinized There are sites that memorialize dead trannies at least for in the US. When I've looked at the victims and the news stories surrounding them in the past it's very clear what happened. They are mostly black or latino and they get killed by a current or former lover, as a result of the drug trade, or as a result of being a prostitute. Often it's combination of those factors. In most cases looking up criminal records makes it abundently clear that they lived on the fringes of society. They put themselves at extreme risk due to the criminal activities they participated in and people they surrounded themselves with. I'm not saying they deserved to be murdered, but drug addicted streetwalkers who aren't trannies are at a much higher risk of being murdered as well.
Random people don't go around murdering trannies for being trannies. Even the fabled getting murdered by a straight guy when they find out you have a dick doesn't really happen. I'm not convinced that the killer didn't know and was experimenting with dick only to freakout in the incidents of that I've read about. It's not exactly hard to spot trannies and you have to be some kind of fucked up to murder someone in the first place. Matthew Shepard is the poster boy for LGBWTF hatecrime victims because he was murdered by drunken rednecks in a brutal fashion for being a faggot, except that one of the guys who murdered him was his former boyfriend and current part time pimp/drug dealer and Matt had a line on something like $40,000 worth of meth. Bringing that up makes you a bigot.
