I think most kids do know their gender identity at age 4. The vast majority of people -- even kids -- can accept that gender = sex. You have a vagina, you're female. You have a penis, you're male. It's not complicated. The vast majority of us learn that at a very young age and never, ever question it because we aren't either intersex or mentally ill. You'll run into lots of problems, though, if you let a 4 year old define what being a boy or girl is. There's plenty of time to talk about that stuff once they hit puberty.

Your post hits too hard, Tathagata...of course a child being neglected, will probably think that they are the one doing something wrong. They act out for attention or assume that they are flawed. Saying they are trans might be to appease or get the attention of a parent, or it might be a parent's interpretation of their child constantly expressing that there is something "wrong" about how they are. It is a stage that comes before acting out against parents and trying be the opposite of what they want, to rebel. But without the love of a parent, these kids spend ages trying to come up with reasons why they are so unloved, methods to make their parents love them more. It is heartbreaking.

I would believe a lot of these kids come from broken households. Whether they are truly "trans" or not, there's so many weird parents involved for this, to genuinely just be a bunch of kids with natural gender issue...and if my child had a gender issue such as feeling that their genitals are bad or hateful, I would be very concerned that someone touched them inappropriately, my first thought is not that they are trans. Because unfortunately abuse/molestation is way more common than genuine transgenderism. Statistically speaking.

I think these points are really where the insidiousness of the trans parenting comes into play. From the outside, they might seem to be normal parents with normal households, but clearly something is wrong when their kids allegedly want to change their gender and start talking about cutting of their dicks, wearing panties and make up, or fantasizing about "vagina fairies." Then when the parents go all-in on the nonsense, they get a hundred megaphones strapped to everything they say/do making them out to be amazing people. Instead of being viewed as problematic people who have screwed with their developing child's mind and body as a result of some emotional or physical abuse, they're portrayed as great people who are the utmost ideal of parenting. But, again, because that abuse or neglect or whatever isn't readily apparent to the public eye, they get to be, in a way, the virtuous victims.

It's just so wrong, and instead of being seen as such they're upheld as great people. And you can't even question it in a lot of circles. It's horrifying.
