News just in: current liberal ideology has no concept that in past times certain things weren't as morally acceptable and having openly gay characters in films for children would not be marketable for Disney and thus didn't happen

As someone who was in the depths of middle school when high school musical first released, being gay was not something people wanted to be out and proud about. This was before most places had even legalised gay marriage. Acceptance is a slow process, and 'crossing the line' may sound cringe but it was the thought process many people had at the time. Disney would only have cared about making something that sold, and god did HSM sell good at the time.

But at the same time, did anyone honestly watch that film and not assume Ryan was gay lmao? Like it doesn't need to be said to make it true, the guy was as camp as a row of tents :story:

Tldr: companies will pander to the masses to make money and don't care about your feelings

As a Buffy fan myself I dread to think what this fanfic is going to be like.

Probably Angel was lying about having his soul back and him and spike went around turning all men into sexist vampires while Willow turns every other man into a Women to solve the issues of Gender identity and sexism in one go.

For a series that empowers women, both Spike and Angel are hilariously pretty un-woke as characters. Sure, they're both puppydog love interests over the course of the series but their attitudes, presentation, and overall actions are far from the traditional debased white male Lindsay would want them to be. It's going to piss me the fuck off watching her neuter them both.

Yeah. I mean some of it is pretty messed up. Angelus (evil angel) used to psychologically destroy his targets, I mean Drusilla was turned into a insane person and he tried the same thing to Buffy.

And Spike had his uh, little screwup in Season 6. Granted, he wasn't ensouled but that was still pretty fucked up. I don't get as bothered by it as some do since Angel gets let off the hook for the shit he does as Angelus but still.
The fact that the show goes out of its way to present Angel and Spike as males worthy of glory and redemption and atonement for their actions, to the point of making Spike the final hero of the series, automatically makes it cancelled in today's black and white culture where moral grayness doesn't exist.
