Minor cow crossover with Jude Valentin. Jude's rather well developed by Lindsay's standards, but then Jude does have the emotional and mental age of a six year old, and Lindsay is probably getting a bit desperate since QKS ended and the whole podcast thing is such a huge failure to launch, so yeah. So by that logic, the white Irish brought over here as slave labor are also indigenous because they too were displaced and formed their own ethnogenic communities.

There was pushback because the term lumped the US tribes in with other groups with which there was zero connection. Even our Canadian neighbors in the First Nations community have a very different and unique history and relationship to their government and people separate from that here in the US.
So now “indigenous” is a catch all including Americans, Brazilian rainforest tribes, aborigines, and according to this idiot, African Americans. All this does is dilute what little political leverage the US tribes hold by folding them into some kind of “global” hegemony movement that has fuck all to do with the very real challenges tribes face here—which is exactly what this idiot is doing here by grouping NAs with black people.

Some of the "retreats" are rehabs, but some are private mental institutions. But they are basically the same thing. Spas where you also talk to a counselor. They aren't going to go to a run of the mill mental institution where you have poor crazy people wandering around or criminals that they stick in there to detox before they go to jail. They might do a night in a hospital for an acute episode, but they won't stay there long. Too much risk of low wage hospital employees selling the story. You have to pay the big bucks to guarantee confidentiality.
