I personally put these people into one of two groups. Group A are those who say and do these things because they can use it to advance whatever agenda they have or helps them attain power and influence. Group B are the True Believers. They've drank an entire punch bowl's worth of Kool Aid and believe in whatever they are going on about with every fiber of their being.
There's also Group C who's going along because they're fucking terrified of someone in their life
