I'm probably going to be alone here but have you ever thought of just not allowing dox or limiting it somehow? I can understand how sometimes it's worth doing but most of the time it's not.

I'm going to get just as many laughs out of wu regardless of knowing her home address and floorplan.
 
I kind of miss our "look, don't touch" rule we used to have back in the day. I know it's hard to enforce but I think things are best when cows are left to their own devices and we just observe and talk amongst ourselves. If they come to visit us, that's different, of course.

I think people get too dox happy too.

We already have restrictions. Most of the "doxing" is nothing more than whitepaging and listing of other accounts.

Blackmail is a specific form of extortion. There were laws broken. When I told Sam he and his friends were literally extorting me he said to "please never email me again". lol

It's a very difficult thing to regulate and I think sometimes dox are justified but sometimes they make a victim out of a predator.

I think you're being too general. Dox means a lot of different things to different people. On some sites, just a name or a picture is considered dox material. When you're site is focused on lolcows and their dramatics it takes away from content significantly if this type of information is excluded.

If you are attempting to say that you disagree with addresses or phone numbers being posted, then say that. If you disagree with the posting of personal information period, then there are plenty of other forums that focus on things besides lolcows that you can go to.
