Protester struck by SUV displaying Trump flag at Fremont High School
A girl who was part of a protest against ICE taking place at a Nebraska school is injured after being hit by a vehicle displaying a Trump flag.
UPDATE (9:00 p.m.) - The story was updated to reflect new reporting that the girl is a student and that the SUV drove past the protest multiple times before stopping.
UPDATE (5:15 p.m.) - Fremont Public Schools issued a statement saying that a non-school-sponsored, student-led demonstration started around 2:00 p.m. School administrators were supervising with the goal of ensuring that students were safe and peaceful.
“We value our relationship with our first responders and their help today. We will continue to work together to keep our students and community safe,” stated Dr. Brad Dahl, Superintendent.

FREMONT, Neb. — A girl who was part of a protest against ICE taking place at a Nebraska school is injured after being hit by a vehicle displaying a Trump flag.
It happened around 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Fremont High School. Dozens of students were part of the protest and were holding signs and chanting. A red SUV with a Trump flag on the back drove by the protest multiple times. On the final pass, a boy, who appeared to be high-school aged, parked the SUV in front of the school, got out of the vehicle and exchanged words with the protesters. He then got back into the SUV, revved the engine and drove forward.

A girl, who was a student, was in the street and holding a sign. A video from a witness shows the girl moving toward the vehicle. While she was still several feet away, the driver accelerated and hit the protester, knocking her to the side. The driver stopped briefly as a school administrator approached, then drove away from the scene.
NCN's Veronica Sandoval was on site covering the protest and captured video of the incident.
Police and paramedics responded to the school. The girl was loaded into an ambulance on a stretcher and transported to a hospital. She was alert, talking and smiling while interacting with first responders.
Students and others continued the protest after the incident.

“When you see it in real life, when you see it happening right in front of your eyes, it’s a different shock,” witness Evelyn Martinez said. “I’m still very shaken.”

Depends on the jury. Sure didn’t look like any rabid mob about to tear the car apart in the video. That flag probably died tragically though.

Overall, in terms of a scale from ringsting to shitter shattered, I'd say my mad level is closer to ringsting. Definitely less angy than a Cheeto Chomo "Truth".

Right, gotta wait until the mob has successfully surrounded you and starts dragging you out of your car before you can claim imminent danger.
They're not whipped into a frenzy, no, but they were getting louder and the crowd doubled in number towards the front of his car before he sped away. Shit, the first thing they did was crowd the back of his car and take his flag, that's not usually what happens if the crowd is completely benign.

Driving a few blocks away and contacting the police to make a report is completely kosher if you think staying where you are is a hazard to your wellbeing.
 
If last weeks hot button narrative is any indication, the driver did nothing wrong and the person getting run over should have known not to be near the front of the vehicle and would not be entitled to shoot the driver in the face.
 
Smart move by the driver to floor it and get the fuck out of there. All your training as a driver says stop if you hit something, but in this case, unless you want to end up like Reginald Denny, you need to get away from danger first and foremost. As fucked as the American Justice System is, its ALWAYS better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Edit: after watching the video some more, I think she may have been in the blind spot created by the A-pillar on the passenger side, theyre deceptively big on some cars especially crossovers like this one (this looks to be. A chevy Equinox or a Traverse possibly) I wonder if thats why he didnt hit the breaks at all. They were distracted by the chaos and werent actively looking out for the rabib Karen flinging herself into the path of their car.

Like I said it all depends on the jury. Hell it also depends on if the DA even wants to press those charges or not. I’ve seen people get charged for hit and runs over people trying to suicide which I found stupid but never said the justice system made sense.
