That's pretty much what happened in that show. They literally showed a scene where the guy was crying himself to sleep and praying because he was that miserable.

This was the 2000's. Back then they'd actually show the reality. Now they won't.

I remember this one was in my hardcover music textbook from elementary school ("textbook" might be pushing it- it wasn't really about teaching music theory or history, just about introducing kids to different genres, songs across the world/eras, etc.) Anyway, this song was one of the songs in that book which may have been some Share the Music book by McGraw-Hill. Thought it was fun, so imagine my shock when a few nights later, I hear that song on King of the Hill (I was a big KotH fan from a young age even though most of it probably went over my head) at a gay dance party(?) at a rodeo in one of the episodes. Definitely changed my perspective on the song lol. Still goes very hard though
Obligatory musical theater song, if that's still considered a homo interest. This is hands down my favorite musical theater song of all time, and from my favorite musical too (I acknowledge there's some hypocrisy there, yes.) I want at some point to make a Cabaret thread in the music board to gush about it and explain the different versions (the London '21 cast being far and away the absolute worst,) but I'm a bit worried about fucking it up
