Released outside of Japan in the year 2014 for the Nintendo 3DS, Tomodachi Life is a simulation game similar of that to Animal Crossing. Being a sequel to the Japan-exclusive Tomodachi Collection, released for the Nintendo DS. Except instead of moving into a village already populated by pre-made villagers, you make the villagers yourself in the form of Miis saved onto your 3DS or made from scratch ingame.
The Miis in the game essentially act as virtual pets. They will ask for food, clothing, hats, interiors, etc. Your Miis can also socialize with other Miis in your island. Making friends and interacting with eachother in various ways. Opposite sex Miis may fall in love and can get married and even have babies.
When this game first released outside of Japan back in 2014, it faced a fair amount of controversy (read: butthurt) from various tranny faggots and leftoid gaming media outlets due to gay marriage not being included in the game and gay couples being patched-out of the Japanese release of the game (the latter of which being a bug and an unintended feature).
Since this game BTFO's faggots and trannies and has a pretty wacky sense of humor, I thought it would be a good game to do a Let's Sperg of on the ol' farms. In fact, I'm surprised a Let's Sperg of this game hasn't been done already. I'm happy to oblige though. Especially since I've been getting back into this game recently, after not playing much since after it first came out.
For this first episode and probably other early episodes, I will be explaining some game mechanics. Just for those unfamiliar with the game.
We shall name this island "Kiwi Island". After the Kiwi Farms, for obvious reasons.
Damn right it's a great name.
Luckily I have already created a Mii which looks like me. Which will save some time fucking around in the ingame Mii Maker
Ain't he a handsome lil' fellow?
I'll have to fill-out some information first. Including my name, date of birth, voice, personality, etc.
Would have set my last name as "The Rogue Alchemist", but it wouldn't have fit. So instead I had set my first name as "Pip The Rogue", then set my last name as "Alchemist".
Now for the voice. I can either set my voice as one of 6 preset voices, randomize my voice or specify how my voice will sound.
These are the custom voice settings. You can change the pitch, speed, quality, tone and accent. As well as choose from one of 4 intonations.
This is what I have set my voice as. Nothing too different from the preset adult male voice.
Finally, I have to set the personality.
There are five personality settings in total:
Movement (Slow - Fast)
Speech (Polite - Direct)
Expressiveness (Flat - Varied)
Attitude (Serious - Relaxed)
Overall (Quirky - Normal)
All of these settings besides Overall affect the personality type your Mii will have.
Since I am using a personality guide, I set my personality to be a Confident Braniac because I is smart :3. I'm also trying to reduce personality overlap as much as possible, since I want as much variety in personality as possible early on in this playthrough.
I will likely post the personality guide I am using somewhere within this thread, incase anyone requests it.
I better fucking love it here. This island is literally in the middle of nowhere.
So this is where I'm going to live for the rest of my life...
Let's enter.
Here I am. Just moved in. Entering my apartment for the first time.
Let's go visit myself.
My Mii be demanding some shit.
The Food Mart just opened. Let's see what kind of goyslop it's selling.
I should note I am using the USA version of the ROM. In case it matters.
Different versions of the game have various localization changes from one-another. As an example, the European version of the game have robots for shopkeepers instead of these wooden niggas in the American version. The Food Mart also sells different food in the European version which appeals to shittier Europoor tastes. There are many other changes. I'm just listing a few for now.
I'll just buy everything the shop is selling right now.
I'm still hungry.
I'll feed myself a Steak, because I am a fox and therefore I am a carnivore. Not some soycuck leftist herbivore or fencesitting enlightened centrist omnivore.
I know how to feed myself food. Fuck off game.
Nom nom nom
I enjoyed the steak1 Yay
Still having issues...
I'm lonely. Which is understandable, since I am literally the only person on the island right now.
For my second islander, I shall introduce Null.
I was originally going to base my Null Mii off Null's profile picture, but I couldn't make a good Mii based off the Null dog. So instead, I had to base it off Null's real face.
I made Null a Designer, because he is the designer of Kiwi Farms.
I'll just enter Null's room uninvited.
Making Null laugh, because I'm just fucking hilarious.
Yay, we're fwiends!
Here's the personality chart. There are four personality groups in total, with up to 16 personalities.
The personality groups include:
Easygoing (Softie, Optimist, Buddy, Dreamer)
Outgoing ( Trendsetter, Entertainer, Charmer, Leader)
Confident (Designer, Adventurer, Braniac, Go-Getter)
Independent (Free Spirit,Autist Artist, Lone Wolf, Thinker)
Personalities affect how certain Miis get along with one another. As an example, Confiden Braniacs get along best with Independent Thinkers. Personalities also affect what kind of interiors and clothing items a Mii will like. While I don't know much about this, I do believe Confident Entertainers are more likely to like costumes and weird hats than other personalities. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong or inaccurate.
A major feature newly introduced in this game and not found in it's Japan-exclusive prequel is the abilities for Miis to get married and have babies. Previously, opposite-sex Miis could date, but they could not get married.
This bitch looks kinda ugly, I'm not gonna lie. I know I can't see her face, but she just seems like she would be a butterface...
Damn, I don't even get to see the baby.
Oh shit, news report!
Hey, it's me!
Let's go to the Town Hall.
Here in the Town Hall, we can create new Miis (either from scratch or transfered from the 3DS Mii Maker), look at a list of all Miis on the island, view child information (yet to be unlocked, because no babby on the island yet), look at our collection of various items we have unlocked (food, clothing, treasures, interiors, etc) send and receive data and finally scan or make QR codes. The Town Hall is also where the options are located. You can change the name of your island, change ingame time (albeit with a penalty for time travelling backwards/forwards by more than 1 hour), enable or disable babies, delete your save file, etc.
Since I am a champion from the hit 2015 free-to-play hero shooter FPS Paladins, I shall introduce some more Paladins characters. First of which being the half-cat/half-French flank champion Maeve.
Maeve's hair is pink, not red. Which was something I could not replicate in the Mii Maker. Luckily, this game has a hair dye spray as an item. Which allows for the changing of hair color to even the most dangerous of dangerhair colors.
Next, I'll introduce Cassie: The Hunter's Daughter (something which I couldn't fit as her last name)
Every islander has a problem right now. So let's solve them.
I'll solve my problem first, because I am a selfish bastard.
Sweet, free money!
Let's take a look.
Another newsflash!
This time it's Null hosting the news.
That piggy bank is just begging to be robbed. Who the fuck places an entire village's funds out in the open like this?
I guess I better keep the amount of melanin-abundant Miis on this island to a minimum...
Or I could spend all the money on vidja and goyslop.
Let's check out the fountain.
Here's everyone on the island being good little tax-paying citizens. That's what I like to see!
We have gained $27.80 from donations.
Morning market? Let's see what's being sold.
I'm selling garlic...
There's nothing tastier than my garlic? Well shit, now I've gotta buy it!
Null's apartment is vacant. Look's like he's hanging out with me.
I have a problem. An orange problem this time.
There are four problem colors/speech bubbles in total. Black, orange, green and pink.
Black problems consist of general shit such as food, clothing, interiors, etc. Sometimes your Mii may also get a cold/stomach bug, ask you a question, request a phrase to say, ask for a certain item, etc.
Orange problems are friendship-related. Whether it be wanting to make a friend, asking about certain Miis, setting Miis up on dates, introcing Miis to other Miis, etc. Miis may also fight with one-another. In which case, you will need to calm down the Mii so they can make-up with whoever they're fighting
Green problems are minigames. Your Mii will want to play a game with you. Many of these minigames consist of quizzes relating to facts about your Miis or food/hats/items/etc.
Pink problems are love problems. Miis will occasionally fall in love. You can either tell them to ask whichever Mii they're in love with out, or decline. If you choose the latter or the Mii gets rejected, the Mii will become depressed.
You also have blue speech bubbles, but I wouldn't consider those to be a type of problem. Blue speech bubbles just appear whenever a Mii is depressed. Miis become depressed if they get rejected, break-up or are unable to make-up with someone they're fighting.
Looks like Maeve wants to be friends.
'sup, nigga
Just made another friend, yay.
And we have our first level-up in the playthrough!
When a Mii levels-up, you can give them one of five different things. A song, a gift, an interior, a catchphrase or some pocket money.
Giving a Mii a song will unlock the Concert Hall. You can make Miis sing songs in the Concert Hall. With up to 8 different genres to choose from. Including Metal, Pop, Rock & Roll, Rap, Ballad, Opera, Techno and Musical. If two Miis have the same genre of song, you gain access to the ability to make group songs.
Giving a Mii a gift will unlock new events and locations. The Mii will also interact with these gifts. There are up to 18 gifts to choose from in total. A few of which including a Wii U, 3DS, soccer ball, skateboard, book, CD, bubble blower, etc.
Giving a Mii an interior will change how the Mii's apartment looks. There are six in total and all are exclusive to level-up gifts. Though you can also buy interiors from the interior shop.
Giving a Mii a phrase will give your Mii a catchphrase they'll say on occasion. These phrases can be up to 16 characters long.
As for pocket money, I'll keep it a secret for now, Unless someone spoils it, lmao lmao lmao
For my first level-up gift, I will give myself an interior.
This Polka Dot interior looks pretty nice. I like the color green and I like the blue sofa.
I'll decline since that shit makes my Citra crash
Saves me from having to buy an interior with my own money. Or even having to unlock the Interior Shop in the first place, lmao.
We've just got our first good. A disposable camera.
Miis will occasionally ask for goods such as disposable cameras, hair dye, etc. So it's recommended to save-up on these items.
Thirsty?
This soda is the only drink I have, So you better fucking enjoy it.
Okay, good.
Now I have a frying pan.
Cassie has a problem. That problem probably being having the word "ass" in her name.
You've just got on this island, You have no friends.
Asian food?
Fuck, I have no asian food.
Have this garlic, instead.
Another news!
Finally, we can buy clothes.
But before we start buying clothes, Cassie has an orange problem.
You want to know about Null, but don't want to actually interact with him?
Nothing special.
Fucking talk to him, you sperg.
Now onto the Clothing Shop
Let's see what they have on sale for today
Nothing too interesting. Let's look at what they have for seasonal clothing.
The clothing store sells seasonal clothing, as well as more generic clothing. The former of which being available depending on whichever season you're playing on at the time, while the latter is available all throughout the year. Since it is summer right now, the seasonal section of the clothing shop is selling summer-themed clothing. Including Dolphin Shirts, Mermaid Costumes, etc.
As for now, I'll buy this for me.
This Dolphin Shirt for Null.
This Checkered Dress Shirt for Maeve.
and this Front-Tied Shirt for Cassie.
Null has a problem, so let's solve it because we are a good person and shit.
Uhhhh...
Anyway, I bought you this shirt. Hope you enjoy.
Fuck, he didn't like it.
At least I like what I bought for my Mii
Despite the Checkered Dress Shirt being a male clothing item, you can give any Mii any type of clothes. Though a male Mii is unlikely to like a female clothing item, and vice-versa. Though in this case, Maeve liked her clothes. So good for me I guess.
Cassie looks kinda fat in this outfit... I might make her Mii skinnier. Let me know what you think.
Anyway, let's introduce some more Miis.
Since this is a Bing Bing Wahoo game, let's introduce the Bing Bing Wahoo man himself to the island.
I'd say this personality is fitting for Mario. Since Mario set the trend for normalizing grown-ass men playing video games meant for young children.
Mario has an orange fren problem.
ffs, everyone wants to know about Null, but no one wants to talk to him. Why my nigga gotta be so lonely?
Go actually talk to him, faggot.
Since we have Mario on the island, let's introduce his rival Sonic.
Entertaining autists since 1991.
To complete the autistic duo, we shall add Pikachu to the island.
I've made Pikachu a female so she could possibly marry Sonic and create Sonichu and because we need more female islanders anyway
Nooze Flaps
Sonic is hosting the news this time. Let's see what's new.
Mii News is what's new.
First daily edition of Mii News? Then what the fuck were all the other previous news flashes? Did they just not happen?
Eyy, it's meeeeeeeeeee.
Two blacks and one orange. Let's solve the orange first.
Someone wanting to actually socialize instead of just asking about a Mii?
I'd say try to listen to my skitzo ramblings.
Some yellow rat just broke into my fucking room.
Yay, new fwiends!
I hope we're friends forever and ever two, Pikapoo <3
Let's see what's on the news.
What's the news for today? You made a friend?
or a barbecue fusion?
Just gonna be honest, that barbecue looks like shit.
Who would eat this shit?
Like I can afford it in this economy anyway. Shit contains caviar. This bitch thinks we're all made of money. Ridiculous.
But let's see what everyone else thinks of this thing.
Sonic is doing bad things.
Null smells bullshit.
Let's introduce some more new Miis
For our first lolcow, we shall introduce the obvious Chris Chan
This personality type is only one letter off from what Chris is irl.
Next up: Heavy from Team Fortress 2.
One feature I've neglected to mention about the ingame Mii Maker up until now is the Relation to Real You section. You can set certain Miis to be related to you in some way. Whether as a spouse, parent, sibling, child, etc.
This mechanic has a few different possible changes. Setting an opposite gender Mii as a parent, child or sibling will prevent your Mii from wanting to fuck that Mii. As to prevent incest. While setting an opposite gender Mii as a spouse will make it more likely your Mii will want to fuck that Mii.
Since Paladins is a video game inspired by Team Fortress 2. I shall make Heavy my sibling, because we are bros.
in addition, I made him an Independent Thinker. Despite Heavy acting like an idiot ingame, he is actually fairly intelligent in-universe. Even having a college degree in Russian Literature in the comics (if I remember correctly).
Lasty for this episode, I will introduce George Floyd.
Equipped with a big nose for sniffing out racist bigoted cops and a pair of big pink lips for giving hot wet kisses, he shall make this island a safer and more diverse place to live
Nudes Splash
It's Chris Chan!
10 people is a reason to celebrate? I've seen Biden rallies with more people.
Sure. 10 is a higher number than 2.
We've got some problems to solve. Including our first green problem.
Pikachu wants to play.
For our first game for the playthrough, we will be playing Mii Facts
Let's see how well I know my own Miis. Hopefully I don't fuck it up this early on.
I've only introduced these two Miis like a minute ago, so I'd guess false.
Yay, I'm correct!
Pikachu is yellow and Heavy is red, so no
Doing good so far. 2/3. Just one more question leff.
Same day of the month? Fuck, idk. Maeve was released in February, and I base the birthdays of video game characters off when they were first introduced (with the notable exception of Mario, who I made to be born on March 10th, for the memes of course). So I'm guessing false?
Fuck yeah, I did it!
All great things come in small packages (just ask your wife), so I'll pick what's in the smallest box.
I got a flashlight.
Let's visit George Floyd.
and Derek Chauvin's knee proudly on your neck.
Have some pancakes.
Sorry those pancakes didn't contain fentanyl. Shit.
WAKE THE FUCK UP FAGGOT
You sure do, Chris Chan. You sure do...
New clothes? I'll need to go back to the Clothing Shop, since I haven't bought any other clothes besides what I bought for my first four islanders.
It's not The Classic, but it'll do.
Fuck, he didn't like it.
Jeez, you're in need for some hair dye. I better unlock that shit soon.
Clothes for work?
Sonic would make a good messanger boy. He runs fast and is speed. So I'll give him this
A TF2 character being first in line for the Hat Shop? God I fucking love meme magic.
Let's see what hats they're selling.
A headset, a helmet and a ten-gallon hat?
This hat probably doesn't even hold one gallon of liquid. Blatant false advertising.
Streetpass? I'm playing on emulator, lmao.
Export item? We're not exporting shit. This island runs on an isolationist foreign policy, free from globohomo bullshit.
Fuck, it's forcing me to choose anyway....
Well, I guess I'll sell a boys item, since girls are icky and have cooties.
Let's sell a funny item, because we're not faggots who like "stylish" shit.
These options are all shit.
Guess I'll choose the caveman outfit...
Blablabla Streetpass blablabla I don't give a fuck just let me play the game you niggers.
Fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Spotpass now? I'm on emulator. I can't use any of this shit.
Can't use it, so fuck off.
Okay cool, but I don't care.
Finally, I can play the fucking game.
What a waste of time.
Maeve has a green problem.
This minigame? Fuuuuuuck, I hate this minigame.
Shut the fuck up, just drop your choker already.
Fuck you.
I'm forced to do this shit again.
Yeahhh, get fucked faggot.
Catch is the worst minigame in this game, and has the worst prize. Since you don't get a choice between three random prizes. Instead, you just have to take what you're given based off the item you have to catch in the game.
Maeve is still having problems.
Maeve wants a phrase to say when she's worried.
In additon to the level-up catchphrase, Miis also have four other phrases they'll say depending on their mood (Happy, Sad, Angry or Worried)
Since Maeve is French and therefore can't into English, she says "zis" instead of "this".
Damn, almost leveled-up...
I'm also having problems. What do I want?
Funny face? Sure.
Ehh, so-so.
Mario is at the fountain. Let's see what he's doing
He's twerking in front of the fountain?
This address shit doesn't really matter, since I am playing on emulator. It's just for QR Codes you create and shit.
With that, we'll end off this first episode of the Tomodachi Life Let's Sperg!
This game can be kinda slow in the earlygame, but it gets more interesting as we unlock more things and introduce more Miis into the island. Any suggestions for new Miis, songs, phrases, etc will be appreciated. I'm thinking of adding Inara from Paladins as another Mii on this island for another female islander as well as completing the Support/Flank/Damage/Frontline class tetralogy of Paladins, but Inara will likely be the last Paladins character/champion I will add to the island as to make more room for a better variety of islanders and to not oversaturate the island with shit most people do not care about. Regardless, let me know what Miis you would want me to add to the island. Any reference images for Miis/characters will be greatly appreciated. Since I am using Citra, I will not be able to scan QR Codes. Still, I will attempt to replicate a Mii based off a reference image, if you want your Mii to be made in a certain way.
Feel free to give suggestions for any Miis I should add to the island. These Miis can be based on anyone/anything. Lolcows, Kiwi Farms users, characters from video games, movies, TV shows, etc, celebrities, historical/political figures, etc. Pretty much whatever you think would be funny. Since I am playing on Citra, I will not be able to scan QR codes for any Miis. I know it's probably possible for me to scan QR codes on CItra. I'm just too stupid to figure out how to actually do it. Which means I will not be able to scan any pre-made Miis into this island. Regardless, any reference images for Miis will still be greatly appreciated. I will do my best to replicate the Mii based off the image.
The Miis in the game essentially act as virtual pets. They will ask for food, clothing, hats, interiors, etc. Your Miis can also socialize with other Miis in your island. Making friends and interacting with eachother in various ways. Opposite sex Miis may fall in love and can get married and even have babies.
