Depends what you value. If you value being remembered (sometimes even fondly), DSP wins. No one but a few of us oldfags know that Slowbeef basically pioneered let's play, and even his old fans turned against him because he went from edgy funny guy to troll's remorse shitlib. I think Retsupurae peaked between 2014-2015 with the RTX and Magfest panels, and were really going places, but then they just let it go for various reasons, I guess. Meanwhile, DSP is still talked about and even had a recent resurgence due to Asmon, but DSP did just do a livestream with a running commentary for when he jacked off on camera by accident, so I guess Slowbeef wins that one.
Younger and younger ones, too; the paywall kept the rich children with gen 1 iPhones out from the kool kids klub in the early aughts but around ‘08 the containment was breached and simultaneously less and less people wanted the kind of humor popular on SA. Kids didn’t want acerbic basement dwellers from Joisey, they wanted the goofy Swede who understood the benefit of leaning 18 degrees into his audience’s expectations of him
the other issue is that Goons are Lazy.
He never really took credit for that or at least when he did it was layered in two-faced sarcasm and cynicism. Simultaneously downplaying it while wearing the crown.

The only people who I'd say are "happy" while also having been "big on SA" are the people like Neil Cicireiga (aka Trapezoid) and Markus Persson (Notch) who were shunned by the SA community for being successful "because of SA" and didn't stick around to circlejerk with everyone. So... the ones who left SA, either by choice or by being banned by a janny with a stick up their ass.

I will regretfully give Slowbeef credit. In so much as Edison "invented" the lightbulb by combining a bunch of stuff from other inventors. Slowbeef did synthesize what had been building, and as you said what we'd been doing in living rooms and computer rooms for years by one person plays and other people watch, but on the internet with video instead of text, and with an audience.
