Slowbeef mentioned on twitter recently that he considers their A Way Out and Together BnB streams (done post Retsupurae) to be some of their best content and I kind of agree about the A Way Out streams. Their RE:5 streams were great, too.
I still think that there's a lot of gas in the tank as far as commentary over longplays goes, there are so many bad games with terrible and weird narratives out there. Or they could revisit some of the stuff that they've already done: it would be fun to see a Mystery of the Druids or Jack Orlando "rongplay" revisit.
 
I think that the Retsupurae channel really should of been given a final video to send it off on a high note even if it's years late. It's not like Best friends where they left in bad terms but they still made a final video for the channel. Betus and Beef are fine with each other still so it's still doable.

I think the internet landscape has also changed a fair bit since they started doing it. I don't remember it ever being that big to begin with, they were always on the smaller side as far as content creators go. And back then there weren't as many people ripping on bad games/playthroughs. Today, that's not exactly a niche area, and on the content creating side of things, yeah, there's plenty of bad stuff, but it's more boring bad as opposed to the old days of camcorder LPs.

Its one of the few things that make sense. Lets plays are dead, lets be honest, streams dont work well with the heckling format

This was years ago so i’ll tell u what I remember. It was some camcorder lets play of Mario Galaxy and apparently the guy killed himself and whoever was RPing it whether it was Ironicus or someone else didnt check

Also isnt it funny that Slowbeef claims to have invented lets plays when James Rolfe did it when he was like five?

slowbeef never claimed that, everyone else claimed that about him. He's said many times there's examples of it before his video.

It’s not let’s play specifically, those came from the Let’s Play Oregon Trail threads in the Games forum, but I do believe he’s said he was the first video LPer, yeah. At the very least, he doesn’t deny it when people say it.

yea that's total bullshit from VB. she was already well known from RP which was always magnitudes more popular than anything on the lp sub forum. She had subtitle lp's cause it was the standard for horror games at the time to let their atmosphere take stage. And because she has no personality.
