What are some terrible things presidents have done that aren't nearly as discussed as they should be? Here are some of my examples

Jimmy Carter: Was in secret negotiations with Ayatollah Khomeini to send him out of exile in Paris back to Iran, under the mistaken belief that he was a humanitarian figurehead with no greater political ambition.

Bill Clinton: Spearheaded the sanctions against Iraq, which are estimated to have killed over 500k children and more innocent people (although contested.) When UN ambassador Madeleine Albright was asked whether the human cost was worth it, she replied yes. It was also one of the rationale and justifications for Osama Bin Laden.

George W Bush: Signed the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention Act, an obvious gift to creditors, and reduced the qualifications of bankruptcy to stupid levels. It fucked over so many people in the long run.

Nixon going into backroom talks with South Vietnam to promise them more military support if he won the next election which got us bogged down there for even longer than we should've been
LBJ signing the INA act in 1965 which radically changed immigration quotas to favor third world shitholes instead of european countries
those are the most egregious ones that stick out to me

George Washington personally led an army against the tax revolters during the Whiskey Rebellion.

Bill Clinton signing the Telecommunications Act of 1996 which allowed big corporations to buy up all of local radio and tv stations, which is why we ended up with companies like I Heart Radio having effective monopolies in entire markets.

HW Bush and Ted Kennedy are absolute rat bastards:

This tripled the immigration quota, encouraged chain migration, and created the H1B visa. It is so much worse than the 1965 act, despite it never being talked about.

More specifically, he possibly sabotaged the 1968 Paris Peace talks in order to prevent the election of Vice President Hubert Humphrey, who was tied to the unpopular war policies of Johnson and could have been saved by the peace talks succeeding. It's generally agreed on that Nixon committed treason under the Smith Act, namely through his connection to a socialite named Anna Chennault, who in turn had connections to the South Vietnamese embassy. Nixon claimed he would give SV a better deal if he were president, possibly leading to the collapse of the peace talks due to them not participating. Hubert Humphrey and LBJ actually found out about this, but decided against releasing it to the public for various reasons despite the possible October surprise.

Also, Bush Jr tried to do the same thing as Reagan and tried to get amnesty for millions of illegals. Somewhat luckily, congress was too bogged down at that point to agree on anything.

Null has mentioned FDR before for censoring the press, and that's why he's tumbling down an infinite flight of stairs forever in Hell. Also, literally serving as many terms as possible until he died, like a dictator would.

There's that whole story about Grover Cleveland raping and getting a woman pregnant and him having her institutionalized after.

In Washington's defense, what was he supposed to do? The Whiskey Rebellion was justified in the sense that they were very justly angry but you can't have anarchy within your country.
To be fair to the Whiskey Rebels, the best argument I can see for having not intervened is that Rhode Island later had a revolution that the US Federal Government stayed out of.

he was pretty shitty but i dont think he deserves to go to hell maybe just a really long time down the stairs in purgatory
