I was going to point out that the DHS encompasses practically fucking everything these days and almost any hack investigation is going to be federal. This would properly be the domain of the FBI, but my wild guess is that they weren't interested and strings were pulled.

Has Hillary mentioned it in a speech yet? I try to keep up with your election but I haven't seen her push the online racism/sexism/bullying issue yet.
 
I don't usually watch broadcast TV, but today while in a waiting room, I happened to see the national evening news on CBS, and they did a gushing segment on Harambe, saying she was maliciously hacked by supporters of "Milo Yiannopolous, the leader of a white nationalist movement known as Alt-Right and tech editor of Breitbart News"

I assume not a single mention that she started the entire thing by racist, sexist and homophobic attacks which was what gained her the attention of people, yes?

I don't claim to be an expert on these sorts of things but from what I know the idea that some Milo Yiannopoulos fanboy loaded up hackingt00lz.exe and directly targeted multiple Leslie Jones accounts as revenge is just as silly and misinformed as the false flag conspiracy theories that Sony is trying to sacrifice one of their own to drum up public support or something. Far more likely I think is that some inquisitive little miscreant was poking around, like a teenager curiously checking to see if someone left doors unlocked late at night, and discovered that the technologically inept Jones had an easily penetrable iCloud account that she hoarded all of her data on, including nudes and scans with personal information. "The Fappening" should've probably demonstrated that putting sensitive data on an iCloud account is fucking stupid but I remember at the time any suggestions of that nature were shouted down as victim blaming. History is apparently repeating itself and I'm sure nobody will actually learn anything through the sensationalist headlines so some idiot is going to be victimized in the future again.

That's pretty much it. We love scandal and if shit like this dried up because people learned their lessons, the fun would dry up.

Plus, the mad hacker is probably an anime fan, so if he gets the shaft, win-win.

I couldn't find where he specifically talks about the fappening with the opposite stance, but at least three different people that I saw called him out on that, and I myself remember him saying something along the lines of "they should know the risks because this happens all the time."

Also, I can't find the exact comment right now, but someone else pointed out how he's saying nobody cares what you think of the movie now, despite spending the last six months bashing it.

I'm pretty sure it was something like that but these bullshit "news" organizations don't know that any more than I do. And of course it could have been a rando just attracted by the noise, but they are pretty likely to be more sympathetic to Milo than to Harambe.

Right now most people will try to bandwagon on this shit and we'll know their true colors by reading what they have to say. Media will try to make it as scandalous as they can since they want attention, but the little people saying "it's sooo bad what happened to her" seem to forget she purposely pushed the GB womynz powah agenda, her comedian superpower (I'm invincible, comments can't hurt me) and mostly, engaging people openly on Twitter. I condone whoever hacked her, that's just foul and wrong, but I also think that Leslie should had been more careful with her approach and shouldn't had poked the bee nest believing she won't be stung. Being famous will always bring unwanted people but it's up to you to know how to deal with them and sincerely, ignoring is one of the best ways to go in my opinion. God bless this mess.

He was salty about that "Bullshit!" episode for almost 10 years, but is salty no more. Late last year he wrote a ranty wall of text about the episode which made his fanboys harass Penn Jillette into making an awkward apology for what was basically a few minutes of tongue-in-cheek shit-talking that happened 10 years ago.
