Am I the only one who thinks this could possibly be another Sony "dust up" aka "The interview". They got all the way to the White House with the "we were hacked by terrorists and North Korea" bullshit. They hired the hackers themselves, which did nothing, except the part where they released Amy Pascal's e-mails, turned this town into a celebrity icebox of chilly stares and true lulz were had and still no one saw "The Interview" and Amy Paacal was out of a job soon after. Sony is in trouble right now and they are desperate and I wouldnt put it past them to pull one of the actors aside, write a check, and say will you go publicly batshit over what people are saying about the movie? We'll even write a few ourselves to get you started. The director of this POS went on record as calling every fan of this type of film genre "an asshole" -- and immediately backpedaled. The entire marketing campaign was changed to make it look "edgy and dark" (which, I assure you added another million to the budget) Christian Wiig said something equally shitty about the target audience and also quickly recanted. Someone in PR was obviously sitting on these two and got them shut down. Leslie Jones' publicist needs to take her phone away from her immediately and the fact that no one has is beginning to make this suspicious. But that's just my two-cents from the sort of shit I see in my workplace -- and I've see "doctors" making mysterious set visits and all sorts of interesting things...

And then, again, she may honestly just be this sort of batshit crazy ... Who knows? (And thanks to everyone who gave me a rating on my "muffin" joke, Matt Rules)

TL: DR: without trying to :powerlevel: too much: I'm beginning to wonder if this is a hoax ala "The Interview" (another fine Sony debacle) or maybe she really just IS this fucking crazy ... Just food for thought ...

You're obviously not the only one that thinks that, from reading the thread. And it would fit in with their marketing campaign of outrage, since they knew the movie was shit from the get-go.

While I think it's theoretically possible this is all a calculated publicity stunt, the likelihood that this woman is just a moron seems much higher.

Oh I totally think she's batshit. Or else completely fucking hammered. It's the internet equivalent of being poked with a stick. These trolls are basically your little brother playing, "I'm not touching you!" in the back seat of the car.
The problem with "stand up to the bullies!" is that not all bullies are the same. Some bullies will back down if you stand up to them. Trolls are only looking for a reaction. The more you "stand up" to them, the worse they get.

Unless, of course, you like playing "Wack-A-Mole" with them. Flame wars and chirping celebrity assholes can be fun sometimes, but this is just lame. If it's a PR stunt, then I'd fire whoever came up with it.

Occam's Razor, really. I have absolutely no doubts Sony could orchestrate such a shitshow out of some malignant scheming, however the easiest answer most often is the correct one: It was some black stereotype going apeshit over childish low-tier trolling.

Otherwise it will just looked at as brave Leslie standing up to the mean internet.
The narrative that she is a hero standing up to racism is already the baseline, when in reality she's just a colossal retard who kept touching a hot stove and refused to stop because walking out of the kitchen would somehow mean it got the better of her.

I can seriously picture her running around her apartment flailing, clutching her phone and howling "They still at it! They still at it!" while someone else desperately tries to calm her down and suggest she just turn off her phone, to which she bawls and shrieks, "I CAN'T LET THEY WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!"

Maybe I can picture it so easily because that's exactly how she acts onscreen.

This is either method acting at it's finest, with Leslie literally playing the character she plays in Ghostbusters, or a truly exceptional chimpout. Best thread I've read in a month or so, well played all.

Can a company itself be considered a lolcow? Because that's what Sony looks like to me right now.

She's legitimately a fucking idiot. I've seen interviews with her, and she can barely speak coherent English. The only time she makes sense is when she's reading from a script.

The movie only made 46 million of a budget of 144+, fucking pixels made nearly twice as that

The $46 million for Ghostbusters was just opening weekend, it'll earn more. It's probably on a trajectory to get to somewhere between $125-150 million domestic, which is still underwhelming for what's supposed to be one of the big summer "tentpoles" but not a flat-out bomb.

Comparing apples to apples, Pixels' opening weekend was just $24 million.

It opened 2nd behind a generic cutesy CGI movie and Star Trek Beyond hits in two days. I wouldn't be surprised if it tops out at 80-95 million domestic.

Related thought: What percentage of the people writing these "We support Leslie!" articles and giving hate to the people she retweets do you think are actually sincere?

Like, how many of them actually, sincerely believe she's being persecuted, and how many of them actually think "Geez this bitch is bringing this on herself" but are still defending her for Social Justice Points?
I guarantee that every site hosting an article like that has both given the Ghostbusters Reboot at least a 3/5 and written a couple separate articles about how trolls are attacking the film because of misogyny and you should go see it because feminism.

I stand corrected, I don't really know a thing about her except she's on SNL. Actors are idiots. They have to be told what piece of tape to stand on, when to turn and what to say and most of the time they're completely high on something. I've worked with plenty of them. When you find an actually smart, well-read and genuinely bright actor it is a thing of joy. But based on all the recent and past shenanigans at Sony (remember when they invented a critic from some radio station who "loved" their shitty films until someone decided to find out who that guy was?) We loved that! We loved "The Interview" fiasco even more and celebrities fell for it left and right. Trust me, around town there are plenty "you can take it over to Sony, they'll buy it." or "I hear Amy Pascal's free" jokes, they are absolutely our favorite LOLcow lot these days. Oh well, so much for me hoping it was another badly executed "clever" ploy ... : smart > actors.

IT'S ALL MILO'S FAULT.png

this is all because of that danged dirty Milo.

Milo: stop feeding the trolls
Leslie: FUCK YOU
Leslie's followers: omg twitter ban Milo! Look at him pick on this poor black woman!

Jim Jefferies put it best with regards to actors:
