"Green" energy needs a god fucking damn lot of rare earth minerals from China, they still need power plants to function, and there's the small issue of recycling.
It's unsustainable, especially considering the current state of the electrical network; see PG&E for example.

Windmills in particular are a fucking cancer to anyone who has the misfortune to live close to them, not to mention the massive damage to insect and birdlife they cause. Oh and that they're unstable as fuck, and need to be "refurbished" every 15-20 years or so.

People miss this but between 1800 and 1860 living standards cratered for most people and socialism/communism was a direct response to that.
