I think it refers to a bbq

It could be in a different context. But best guess is about the grill you would see in an oven or a barbecue, like the pattern on where you place the meat on.

iirc there's different dubs for Leaf Frog and regular Frog versions of the Simpsons
both of which faced challenges in the first season when the episode was based largely on Bart's inability to speak French
