I don't blame you. I've grown shiitake, and they'd occasionally set-off my trypophobia (a warning to the curious: don't google that word if you don't know it). Those ones in the pic are valued for their "medicinal" uses as opposed to anything culinary, so there's that.

edit: They might also be what drove Cosmo insane(r). IIRC, he was mixing them with psych meds.
