Necroing this thread because I've been having a blast with Season 3.

I played the game shortly after launch, kinda got filtered by Monoliths and then really hated trying to level up alts.

Tried again in Season 2 and did better in Monoliths but still lost interest.

This Season it's finally clicked. The campaign isn't nearly as punishing as it use to be, I watched some speed runner videos on how to get through the campaign with all passives and idols quickly, and already have an alt starting Monoliths. My first build was a meta one that's going into Empowered monoliths for the first time, and finally ran all the dungeons.

This is just coming off a deep dive into Project Diablo 2's latest season, and LE is really holding up compared to my all time favorite ARPG.

If you tried and forgot and it, give Last Epoch another try.

Damn Unity Engine devs somehow made this thing even more RAM hungry than it used to be.

It's partially my fault, I can't expect perfection from Linux gaming along with only 16GB of RAM, but I used to be able to run this sucker with no issue. Now I get a complete system lockup any time I interact with too many inventories in a single game session. I really want to try for a fireball ignite build with that new amulet, looks like it'd solve clear speed issues and boost its single target at least by as much as a dedicated ele DoT/fire pen amulet would.

All the feedback I heard about Wildfire Embers said that it was extremely weak and not worth using, people were crying for it to be bugfixed in the last patch note's comment, but EHG has yet to acknowledge there's even an issue with it. So you're not missing much at the moment.
They did just add texture streaming this season to save on VRAM, but the game uses 16-18GB of RAM on my machine.

About 1.3, the new uniques are cool, but if you're not playing Flay Lich or Minions there's basically nothing new. The end game is good since 1.2 and the Woven Echoes, but it is still a little lacking if you're not into pushing very high corruption number or challenging Uber Aberoth. Not enough goals or chase items to keep me engaged at the moment, I ended up stopping before the first Aberoth kill this season. Still very hopeful for the future of the game.

The node that turns Smoke Bomb into a traversal skill is bugged since it was added. Basically sometimes you get stuck while using it, can't move, can't interact with the town portal, nothing. You have to exit to the character screen to fix. I reported it in 1.1. or 1.2 and it's still here in 1.3. Whenever you're making a build in this game, you're taking a gamble if the skills you decided to choose will even work lmao

The game is being review bombed for going back on its word not to introduce any gameplay DLCs, that is on top of not adding all the promised 1.0 content. It was supposed to be a full experience at a one-time payment with optional cosmetics.

First DLC will be free to owners of the game, but next ones will lock you out of gameplay content unless you buy the DLC. And of course you've got the usual consoomers defending it with "just get a job bro" or other bootlicking.

At least the game isn't completely ruined if you like how it is right now. It has a true offline mode with no bullshit spyware launchers (yet).
well, as someone who's played this game quite a bit, I have to say that the campaign is annoying, I never want to do it again, especially since the plot doesn't even wrap up, Gael clearly being the Boner King yet they never bridge the plot game and just show/tell this obvious fucking twist is baffling, and there's no closure, since in reality, all the plot elements are indirectly caused by you, in reverse order chronologically, so obviously you can't fix anything in the fucking plot.

beyond my nitpicks on the plot, the customization is good, but there are clear huge winners and losers for specalizations that need to be hammered out, and they haven't, even all this time.

Good, it has been running on good vibes all this time, and it's finally finding out.
LE has the worst launch in any arpg history, and it has tons of dumbest white knights defending that, saying if you expect an online launch to be smooth, you're the stupid one. The brainwashing of expecting inferior quality has finally complete. Remember, it was botched for 1 whole week.

Tbf, it's better than d4 by a bit, that's all. It's community it's run by woke mods, and the leader like to deliver sweet promises but not reaching it. You cannot run on the premise that you will avoid poe1 & 2 launch window infinitely. Those problems are merely streamers problem, but in reality, does your players want to play your games when those leagues are on?

On the topic of their skins not making a profit.... Duh, those skin are really fugly. Mind you, the prices are reasonable, but me and my friends didn't want to buy a single of them be cause of how ugly they are, meanwhile we have stack of poe skins even if they are expensive as hell.

They want to run on seasons, but they barely have any seasonal content, poe2 in it's early access has way more content. I can rant for a long time, but suffice to say, they ran good vibes, quality wise, they are very lackluster across the board, and the thing that was holding them was the good vibes that the devs are still going to try their best to please the fans.

And now that the promise seem to be broken, the dam just broke.

Season 1 launch (February 2024) still had the same glaring issue of lacking end game content 0.x versions had:
Arena doesn't matter outside of high score ranking competition (and is dominated by the flavor of the month exploit build)
I'm not into boss hunting but I believe only Aberoth offered challenging boss fight.
Dungeons doesn't matter and you can just run it and one shot the boss for the one reward you need once you're deep into Empowered Monoliths.
Then you have Monoliths Echoes (maps), but there's not enough 'league mechanics' and varied farm strategies to keep them fresh past 20 hours, and pushing for higher and higher corruption numbers soon feel like artificial difficulty.

S2 (April 2025) finally gave proper end game farm with the weaver's tree (atlas tree), and Uber Aberoth for more challenging boss, but it's still pretty stale after 50-100h.
S3 was okay but kinda forgettable.
And now we're looking at March 2026 for merely a S4 that seems to add Breach + Vaal orbs. Which, looking at the roadmap would put the 'Orobys Expansion' around end of 2026 / early 2027 for some proper and sizeable new end game content. Urgh.

Maybe it's me who's too far outside their target demographic (Casual and D4 "players"?), but I feel like their decision making is sub-par, I'd rather have 2 seasons a year but huge ones every time. Fewer but bigger season will help them stand out against PoE for sure.

I totally agree with Weeby Catto, their MTX are not looking good enough to sell well, and IMO their lack of content also contribute to fewer sales.

It's annoying because LE was a breath of fresh air when it came out compared to PoE with all the QoL and benevolant design, now they're wasting their stockpiled community goodwill breaking their promises on a shaky business model, the game balance gets tiring and there's still not enough content.

Quite literally the only people defending the paid DLC drama is "lol what are you poor?" When that's the only argument these people you know they have low standards and don't mind be swindled.

I remember opening the LE store with friend and laughing how bad the skins are.
Overall I don't like microtransactions in rpg games. Gearing up and looking cool or strong is important part of the gameplay but if anyone wants to sell their skins they should learn from GGG and hire decent artists. Their skins usually scream 'buy me'.

The only reasonable real world price for a cosmetic item in a single player game is $0. This shit is already on my disk. No assets are streamed in real time. I paid full price for the fucking game. If any dev/publisher demands extra money to graciously allow me to view and use assets that are already present on my PC, I will hope and pray for their dev studio to get bombed, and their burnt remains to be shipped to their families in the cheapest aliexpress urn with their name on them, engraved with a spelling error only a chinaman could have made.

Ikr, it's just ugly as sin.
Logically, no one wants to pay for extra mtx skins, not even at 5 bucks.
But it is what it is, if you want continuous live service updates like poe, money has to come from somewhere somehow.
But not every game delivers good seasonal content enough to persuade players to fund them once in a while through some mtx.
GGG mtx prices are evil, but they also have hands down the best arpgs in the market with no close competition, even if it may not be everyone's cup of tea.
