To me it just felt like the author's barely disguised self-insert bitch-fest about how overbearing her tigermom was.

That and the puberty-allegory creature being sold to her classmates to look at in the school bathroom felt like they didn't really think it through as much as they should've.

I haven't seen Inside Out 2 so I can't really compare, but if it's below Turning Red then that's not a great sign lmao
Oh absolutely. I'm just ranting with no direction really. Just the absolute state of Pixar. It's a shame because I still genuinely like animation.

the wife finally listened to the songs and she wants to get on the trolley, anybody got an easy DDL?

To preface this, I know jackshit about this film except that it's stupidly popular with kids.

I was driving home recently and decided to put on the radio out of boredom. It was all the usual top 40 dreck, but eventually Golden came on.
My first thought was for top 40 radio music, it was pretty good, at least compared to the other songs, so I looked it up out of curiosity to see who sang it.
The whiplash I got when I learned that it was from this dumbass kid's movie and its gone platinum was something else.

Outside of that, whatever, at least kids get a fun romp instead of the dogshit disney/pixar shits out these days, and in an era where must stuff gets forgotten after a few weeks, it's genuinely impressive to see something stay in the public consciousness for as long it has.

Also, I give my condolences to any parent with a little girl obsessed with this film because even I can tell that this film is essentially the actual Frozen 2, complete with three or four Let it Go's.

I do find a number of songs from this movie (like Golden) to be enjoyable. One of my first thoughts when I finished this movie was, “this certainly was not made for me.”. I think that is true. I’m not the core audience for this kind of movie but I am unfortunately a closeted K-Pop fan so I watched all of it. The animation is nice and I did like the main cast of “demon hunters”.
