Kobe Bryant died in a helicoper crash in Calabasas Sunday morning ... TMZ Sports has confirmed.

Kobe was traveling with at least 3 other people in his private helicopter when it went down. A fire broke out. Emergency personnel responded, but nobody on board survived. 5 people are confirmed dead. We're told Vanessa Bryant was not among those on board.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

There's something very odd about that recording. Right before she says the forbidden word, the audio totally drops out. Not that she paused, the audio goes from an ambient inside background noise to nothing. I would expect an inhale, or at least some of the background noise to be retained if she just stopped speaking for a moment to contemplate how shitty her life is about to become for a few days (before we all die of Wu Flu).

I would hazard a guess that there was something wrong with the transmission causing the audio to fall behind the video, and the receiving system sewed a few syllables together to compensate. The audio just feels too inhumanly spoken to me but maybe someone with a better knowledge of audio analysis could take a look - I'm just going off my own two ears.

Just now am I realizing I had no idea what any of the Black Basketball Mans looked like. Whenever I thought of Kobe, Michael Jordan or Lebron, I’d actually be picturing Shaq.
 
The pilot was VFR in IFR conditions.
He was trying to go special VFR.
He was trying to stay below the cloud deck, so he can see the freeway.
You can also hear the pilot sounded stressed in the recording.
