Kobe Bryant died in a helicoper crash in Calabasas Sunday morning ... TMZ Sports has confirmed.

Kobe was traveling with at least 3 other people in his private helicopter when it went down. A fire broke out. Emergency personnel responded, but nobody on board survived. 5 people are confirmed dead. We're told Vanessa Bryant was not among those on board.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

This thread is just a display of one clusterfuck after another.
lmao because if there's one thing the drooling exceptional individuals falling over each other to comment "lol dead nigger" can be trusted for, it's regular code-switching.
Then they should be reported if they sperg in on-topic boards. But this argument is getting off-topic anyway.

Also lol dead nigger.

Somehow Kobe and his daughter’s death are.....gamergate

View attachment 1118235

All because the reporter tweeted something incesntive while the bodies were still smoking then released private emails because she was “harassed” for tweeting a shitty hot take.
G-g-gamergate! It's EVERYWHERE! Oh my god, the magachuds are coming from inside the house!

Lordy. I'll be charitable. This bitch maybe didn't mean to dox people, but she did (according to Twitter Rules anyway) and she took her lumps. Got her account back faster than most people stuck in Twitter Jail. What's there to bitch about? She busted the rules.

Edited for a typo and also because a little graphic of the Motion Tracker from Aliens monitoring incoming Pepes amuses me.

Thinking about the event some more, at least neither the daughter or Kobe lived or they'd be wrapped up in guilt for the rest of their lives. That's the sort of event that would really screwed with your mental capacities.

Everything is three degrees from Kevin Bacon Gamer Gate.

Welcome to 2020, ladies and gents.....

It takes dedication to come up with something stupider than the usual conspiracy theories that always pop up when a rich person dies young in an aviation accident..... but anti-GG somehow managed it....

Aaliyah (should have been R Kelly instead)

Otis Redding and four members of the Bar-Kays. The lone survivor's story of hearing band members cry for help and not being able to reach them in the water is heartbreaking.

Randy Rhoads. Rudy Sarzo wisely declined to get on the plane.

Not exactly an on-flight death, but Soundcloud rapper Juice WRLD died after having a seizure while coming off a flight.

Why is nobody here talking about what an abnormally large number of people were on that helicopter?

I've heard people talking, IRL, about how the helicopter probably crashed because they overloaded it.
Because it's not an abnormally large amount of people. You can fit 6 people, plus the 2 pilots, on a UH60 Blackhawk with no problem. Those UH60's aren't built for luxury like this one was.

It won't happen, because myriad reasons, but by god I would love to see that bastard brought to justice over that fake marriage certificate.

Apparently weather has been a chief factor in the Crash. The helicopter had Special permission to fly in foggy conditions, in my line of work pilots would rather quit than be forced to fly in fog. Even with IFR you still need at least some visual reference (Be it cloud layer or the ground). Flying in these conditions is dangerous, you can't tell if you're flying through a thick cloud layer or straight into a fucking mountain. At least with the latter, you'll get a few seconds react and even then, it might be futile at that point.

Edit: At this point I think we can call it CFIT (Controlled Flight Into Terrain). There's no way a technical failure happened, The S-76 is a tough heli. Only had 4 other accidents before this, 2 were technical failure.

If he bought this, would he have survived the crash given its reputation as the flying tank and those armor plates would have come in handy.

Pretty much everything I've read has said straight-up that the pilot was basically flying blind and plowed into the treeline, so this seems accurate.

I'm curious whether flying in fog like that is something Kobe and his pilot did all the time and were cool with or if the pilot was pushed into it somehow.

Like you said, most pilots I know would refuse to fly a heli in fog like that.

I remember trying it in flight simulator and it's hell to fly in foggy weather. You need some like advanced sonar radar heat infrared laser technology to fly through fog.

If they were flying fully IFR, they could do so without visual reference.* However, according to the related ATC tapes, the helicopter was being flown under “special VFR” rules, which essentially means lower visibility than would usually permit VFR. While this is not necessarily a problem, special VFR can be unforgiving to those who enter deteriorating weather and lack the skills to switch to IFR if need be.

*To my knowledge, even if they were flying under IFR parameters, they would still be required to go to an airport with the relevant equipment to complete a journey, as buildings’ rooftop heliports lack such equipment that’d allow for landing in poor visibility.

Overall, it looks like CFIT.

Anyone have any more screencaps or ways to see Ari's past or archived tweets? I've googled but can't find much now since the only results you get are concerning the kobe tweets and the results I do get lead to his deactivated twitter page.

I didnt know much about this but seems like he disrespects every celebrities death but only caught shit this time cause the guy was black. Which is the only thing twitter will get mad about apparently.

Jan 1, 2020 - I'm glad he's dead. #burninhell ... Replying to @AriShaffir ... I thoroughly look forward to these tweets after “celebrity” deaths #skeptictank.

Fog is lethal. About a decade ago the president of Poland died in a plane crash due to heavy fog. They considered not landing, were going to make one pass then divert. Situational awareness loss, as I'm nearly certain this crash will end up being. Fog is one of the worst culprits for loss of situational awareness.

I believe there was considerable pressure from the president and other officials on board to land and not divert. I'm not sure if that's what happened here, and there's probably no way to know for sure so I won't speculate.

Btw at the end of the video, the pilot is screaming arrrrgh kurwa (oh fuck) which is possibly the most Polish thing ever. That's when they were impacting tree tops.
