More than likely the case, with how big the checklist for the main modes are there seems to be a ton to unlock. So if there's any more characters yet to be seen they will be unlocked through the checklist. It also seems to me that most of the characters being added were also dream friends in kirby star allies so they have fresh new models to work with or a reference for any new model design.

I haven't played it myself. Since, I'm going to get the game day one anyways and I want to have a fresh perspective on it's release. But, what i've seen of the demo it looks like it'll be a blast once the full game is out.

Ehh, I get the disappointment that Adeline and Ribbon aren't here. But, I've seen some people get a little to fanatical over it and act like Sakurai and the team killed their dog. All in all, I don't think that just because their not here in the game means sakurai and the team hates Adeline and Ribbon or that he did this to piss people of intentionally. At the end of the day, there's only so much time and budget you have and some characters that are fan faves are bound to slip through the cracks.

Being fair, there are a ton of more important characters left out then them, so I doubt it was fully about him hating humans or 64. All the animal buddies beyond Rick are missing and there is no one from either Forgotten Land or Star Allies (weirdest exclusions given relevancy and sales).
 
I've really been enjoying Air Riders. The first game was one of my favorites and it was one of the games I replayed the most with my brothers and friends. The arcade-like nature of it is very satisfying, especially when you complete a ton of achievements. The My Machine is pretty comprehensive and actually fun to mess around in. It's a rare sequel that took everything that made the original good and improved on everything. I do wish there was more than one city trial map, though
