Moe anime. I'm serious. Moe anime has progressively pursued a sort of maximalist cute to capture goblin-people as viewers and fanatic consumers. The production companies have sunk resources into adapting extremely visually stimulating characters with facial proportions almost identical to a kitten to produce the greatest reaction in viewers that they can. Their personalities are just extensions of trying to capture attention. There's a certain kind of mentally ill person who will just be audience-captured by this, and mentally ill people spend a lot of money. It's why there has been this homogenization of style, because moe makes money. A lot of money, in comparison. It's why the Furry Fandom, bronies, weebs and others share such intense aesthetic and even cultural overlap. Why they're such similar people. They are addicted to intense stimuli of child-cats being loud and hyperactive. It's why it's so rare to hear about someone who is just as weird and obsessive about say, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell or Vampire Hunter D - Bloodlust as the people who are into Dragon Maid, Lucky Star or MLP. Despite the former three examples being well known for their aesthetics, they're still not as visually or mentally stimulating as moe because moe was not built to be a story or whatever, it was built to earn merchandise purchases.
Intense colors, big and expressive eyes, neotonous designs, often even avoiding the use of black lines in order to soften the character's outline. The creators are
extremely aware of what should be done to produce a character design that is optimally appealing to the dopamine zombie audience they're trying to acquire and no level of quality film making would ever be able to compete in this demographic. It becomes detrimental to try too hard to do anything except be more bombastic and stimulating than the competition. Plot, character, these things are secondary to a dopamine zombie. Just make it cute enough and they won't care. The moe cartoons are the closest thing they have to sexual and romantic relationships with women who aren't their mother. So, this is what they fixate on. Pure little moe blobs. Their whole perspective becomes sicker and more deranged as time passes and they need increasingly stimulating products, like any addict.

In short, some people were just born to be property of the nearest man or woman with a crown and in the absence of this relationship, they wind up gooning 24/7 to girls drawn like kittens because they are a slave to cute things, bright colours, and loud noises. It's funny in a disappointing way that the guys who raked DSP over the coals for the same thing would get their shit blown out for an even worse version of that the second someone inspected them. I would expect people to have a better eye for who to avoid publicly shackling yourself too, now that Da Sektur has gone on so long. I don't quite go in for Guilt by Association either, but it does speak about what you value (your good name vs an easy paycheck, for example) when you get caught allowing these people to orbit you so closely as to have easy access to a private DM.
