From what I understand, PPP was kicked out his church for said starfish stream. As well as likely being the catalyst for become estranged from his conservative family.
Ashton then falsely blamed all this on Ethan Ralph, claiming Ralph harassed his church to get Ashton kicked out. This was, of course, a lie - Ashton was simply fabricating a story to get e-fame and e-clout. A story, by the way, which I believed at the time.
Ashton has to get credit at least for being a reasonably intelligent guy. He knows how to lie very effectively, he knows how to play people to get ahead, and he knows how to use his actual religious training as a tool to achieve incredibly minor e-celebrity and milk gullible whales.
I don't think the modern Kino Casino crowd knows this lore. I would argue Asston hasn't fully dropped the preacher schtick - how many times has he gone on rants about AF and how they profane the word of God?
In a Kino Cathedral stream awhile ago, he was asked if he'd do preaching streams again. He responded "I may preach on the Bible again once I feel more right about myself". Ashton knows how to play Christians and tell them what they want to hear, fooling them into thinking he's actually devout.
TLDR: Ashton is a fake Christian who uses his religious upbringing to milk shekels out of actual Christians looking for a voice of reason in far-right circles. He then spends this money shoving wheelbarrows full of Potato Chips down his Hog-Gullet, gambling, and buying thousands of dollars of High Heels for Satan-Worshipping aging e-thots he's never met in real life.
